open c non pedal tuning.

hi everyone
I am still new at non pedal steel.
I have been trying to tune to open c tuning and cannot get it to sound right.
I am only able to buy regular guitar strings locally.
Is ther a difference also is a chromatic tuner better than a regular tuner?

hi everyone;
I am still new at this trying to change tuning to open c tuning.

I can get it partially but does not sound right.
I am using a standard guitar tuner.
Should i use a chromatic tuner as i can not get the

Thanks

I joined steel guitarforum probaly a couple of weeks ago and i have this to say.

If the amout of talent that is on here was measured in money there would be enough money to pay off the
national debt with money left over.

GREAT SITE LOVE THE RESPONSES AND ADVICE FROM EVERYONE
