Has anyone here thought of using a Roland VG8, or VG88 or VG99 on their lap steels. I used a VG8 when I was touring and needed to travel light. It was great for open tunings and clean, but I couldn't get on with the overdrive/distortion settings. Just a thought.

That was very cool. I really like the fact that he put his slide in the sound hole as not to lose it! Man, I wish I could find a way to get manufacturers to give these musicians some good gear! Come on you big guitar makers, string, capo, pick, strap manufacturers, send these people some gear!

Isn't he a real looker? His beautiful wife Mary keeps him tolerable! Just joking!!! He is in fact my Hawaiian Lapsteel teacher and a fantastic one at that! Patient and understanding of my short comings! He's a hell of a guy! I'm very lucky to got to know him and his wife that past few years. I can't ...

Low impedance pickups

Hello all, just a quick question if anyone has ever used low impedance pickup on their lapsteels before. I've been reading the Les Paul books and came across that he got his super clean sound from them. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your time,
Laurent

Great tuning

Isn't my lap steel teacher smart? George Keoki Lake is trying his best to teach me all the Jedi secrets of that tuning. Slowly and painfully I might add on his behalf!

Guyatone D-8

I got the exact same guitar, a D-8. I love it. It was my first steel. Wow was white the only color they used back then. I would love to know more about Guyatone steels. Just my 2 cents.

resonator pickups

Hey James, that's what I kind of figured. I'm going to try them near the bridge or close to it. In your experience, will the sound be super trebly?
Just curious. Maybe I should just splurge on those hotrod plates with a pickup built in eh?
Thanks again,

Sorry I didn't include that tidbit of information, they are all round necks. I play them all in the Spanish manner and not lap style.
Thanks again,

pickups?

Hi guys I also got a couple of those pickups that you were talking about and I finally received my package yesterday. I opened it up and those pickups sure are slim, but when I tried to place them under the strings at the end of the fretboard, they wouldn't fit. The strings hit the tops. My 3 single...

Which model did you order?

Which model did you order? I noticed that there is the slim humbucker which mounts to the neck with the supplied bracket or there is the first one. I'm asking because I use resonators and would like to amplify them as well.
Thanks for the info,
Laurent

Do you still have this for sale? I'm interested in it. Do you notice that 4 strings are louder than the others as the first owner did? And does the adapter thingy actually work or can a regular socket be wired in instead of using the adapter?

Let me know,
