What was your Strangest Gig.
We played at a women's prison. We were setting our gear up in an outdoor area. One prisoners looked out the window and turned around and she yelled out hey you bitches there are four big hunks of meat on the patio area.

Buddy and I met when we were 12 years old, taking steel guitar lessons at the Ontario Conservatory of Music. We went to high school together. He used to bring his steel guitar over to my place and we'd set our guitars up in the living room and play together for hours. It really ticked off my brother...

Went down to Bellingham Washington a couple of weeks ago to see Vince and Paul with the Timejumpers. It was a fantastic show. While I was there I found out that Paul is touring with Vince for all of his shows.

Buddy with the Everly!!!
Many years ago our band was the warmup band for an Everlys at an outdoor concert in Chilliwack B.C. I didn't even know they had a steel player until I went back stage to set up. There was a steel guitar there, the next thing that happened Buddy came walking up the stairs. I had to play a 45 minute s...

Rex has died. He was a friend of mine. The last time I saw him He was playing at a celebration of life for another musician. I played there too. When Rex showed up I carried his steel guitar into the stage, as he couldn't do it anymore. He was a very nice guy.

Volume Pedal for Nashville 112
I use a Hilton volume pedal, and I use a Nashville 112. The Hilton pedal is by far the best I've ever used. The sound is great, and you don't have to worry about the pot wearing out because it doesn't have a pot. It uses a laser scanner to adjust the volume.

Practice Amp
I use a Peavey Nashville 112. On the back there is a jack for headphones. There is also a preamp out, CD input jack,I can connect to my computer. This way I can hear both my amp and music from my computer or other sources with the headphones. There is no sound coming out of the computer, or the amp....

Tommy your steel guitar falling apart on you is worse than breaking a string.

Peterson Strobe Question.
I tune all my strings right to pitch. If it's good enough for The Big E, it's good enough for me. Not only that, I'm complimented quite frequently by other musicians and audience people on how well my steel is tuned.

What Inspired you to first play steel guitar
I grew up in Ontario, and when I was really young, 4 or 5 years old, my Dad would tune the radio to WSM Nashville. It played all day, I remember thinking I love the sound of the steel guitar even though I didn't know what it was. When I was 12 years old someone knocked at the door offering Hawaiian ...

Nice stuff. Buddy and I when we were teenagers used set up our steels in my mom and dad's living room and played for hours. Really ticked off my brothers and sisters. We didn't care though, we were having fun.

the right bar pressure.
The right bar pressure is the weight of the bar itself. You don't need to put any more pressure on the bar, as long as you are holding it properly.

What tuner is the best to use for steel guitar.
The Peterson stroboplusHD is by far the best tuner I've ever used. It has presets a.k.a. Buddy Emmons. Jeff Newman, and more. I tune strait up. It is very accurate, and easy to use. The strobe screen makes it easy to get right on the note.

Emmons SKH serial number
You don't have to remove the changer. I turn it upside down. Pour the degreaser on the changer mechanism. When it has drained through, lubricate it with sewing machine oil. Works great for me. I don't have to tune my pedals very often.

Mine must be a real antique. The serial number is 006L. But it is a fantastic steel guitar. Great sound, stays in tune perfectly, no string breakage.
