Michael, thank you so much for your post. I sold the Sho-Bud to another buyer (for the full price I was asking) the morning after Ron Spears was here. I've received his money, he's received the guitar and all parties are very happy. Thanks again,

I've never seen position markers on any other guitar like those on this one. Was that their standard configuration? Are there any position markers at all on the long scale? Those position markers are little paper dots that my Dad stuck on for himself.. they would peel off pretty easily.. definitely...

It is quite the optical illusion because of the two pickups on one neck compared to one.. which also begs the question (at least to a guitar player) how that changes the "sweet spot" for the pickups.. (ie. why a 22 fret guitar puts the pick up in the best harmonic location on the guitar)

Guyatone for sale PLEASE CLOSE.. thanks

You will probably know what this is better than I, and I am selling it for my Dad's wife.. he referred to it as his "Japanese honey" and up until the end he played it more than any other of his guitars.. even the Sho Bud. She is asking $450 plus shipping and it will be shipped in the origi...

Fred, I play a regular guitar, and my Dad left me his 37 Ric 7 string bakelite lap steel. I am going to start my steel journey with that (I think 20 strings with a bunch of pedals and knee levers might be outside my range!) While I would love to keep the Sho Bud, to be honest, his wife needs the mon...

Howard, you made me laugh and cry at the same time. I remember that chrome Dobro well! Before he had the Ric, he would travel with that. I lived on a boat in San Francisco with my wife, and sent him and Vicki tickets to come visit.. I told them it was a small boat.. so bring soft luggage, etc. He sh...

Do you know what this is?

This is another one of my Dad's steels.. actually the one he played the most up until he was unable. No levers or pedals.. just a two neck 8 string steel with pickups that look for the life of me like some Teisco guitar pickups. He used to refer to it as his Japanese honey.. The three legs screw int...

I know the one pickup on the E9 neck has a sho-bud logo (hard to make out.. but there) the other pickup is not the same, and i do not know if it was shipped that way or what.. just that it works :) Here are some pictures of the undercarriage, the pickups, and the "adjustment" end. It has t...

Steve, (and everyone) thank you for your thoughts, Dad passed last Tuesday, and you are right that this was his most prized guitar.. over his Sho Bud and his National Steel. He took it with him everywhere he traveled. I am a mediocre guitar player.. but enjoy it.. so there you go. Was wondering.. on...

Here is a picture of the guitar.. more available. My Dad bought it new from Steel Guitar World in TN on 1/9/1984 and it comes with a hard case.. To give you an idea, in 1984, when they shipped the package at 68lbs from TN to FL.. they charged $11.83! http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk273/Bhodie1/...

Thanks for your thoughts, I know Al really enjoyed this forum.. One of the guitars he owned was a Ric prewar Bakelite 7 string that I am taking home with me to learn slide (I play regular guitar..) The Sho Bud is indeed a 8 pedal, 4 knee lever, console. I am not sure how they described the color, bu...

7 String Rickenbacher tuning

Well, my father left me his '37 Ric 7 string Bakelite when he passed. I have always played "regular" guitar, and he had been a steel player all his life. Of all the things there were to discuss, I guess tuning never entered the equation!! Now he is gone, and if the threads around tuning ar...

1983 Pro II Custom Sho-Bud $2000!

I am posting using my fathers account.. I am his son, and I am sorry to say that he passed away last Tuesday. He has been a lifelong steel player, and truly loved the instrument. His wife has asked me to help her price and sell his equipment, and I would like some feedback. He has a 1983 Sho-Bud Pro...

dvd/cd player/recorder

We want a new cd/dvd recorder simple enough for us elderly to use yet priced so we can afford. We would like to record TV shows that come on after our bedtime so we can play them later when it's more convenient. We want to keep it simple and cheap using RW disks. I had a Supro dbl 6 ca. 1947 give or take. It in no way resembled this one except for the fact it had two necks. I never liked it because both necks were the same level makind it tough to play the far neck. I finally broke the necks apart and built laminated plywood.one layer of 1/4" under both...

I hate to bug you this early...I still have the hang problem, Win XP Pro, 512 Mb. I haven't done anything except run a full scan in which Norton Internet Security sees nothing. Need Help, Win XP Pro

Depending upon how much I use the computer I het 10 to 20 hangs a day, more of less. I go to Help & Support\Tools\Advanced System Info, Error Log which shows the date but not the time, the source, which just shows "Application Hang", and Description, which is almost never the same. Som...
