Im not sure if they meant he was playing with him when it came out, not necessarily that he was on the recording. This is direct from his Obit. Interesting though.

Your welcome JR. Here is just a brief from his Obituary. He died in 2006. At 17 was performing with Hank Thompson. In 1956 he joined the Ray Price band and contributed his talents to the #1 hit song "Crazy Arms." From 1962 through 1967 he performed with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. He...

I was seated right in front and the Arkansas boy did a great job. His whole set was very good and Bobby both. I got to play that guitar in Terry's booth after his set. The cross shafts were seated in bearings. It was really a smooth playing guitar.

Hello Mark, A good looking Bud. Was wondering what the serial number might be. A 74 6139 would be round front, rack and barrel or barrel tuning and gumby headstock with wide pedals. This one looks to be a later 70s maybe 78? Just curious, I have the twin to it in a ProII. Have thought about maybe go...

Zane, it reminds me how Zane Beck would think outside the box. It is good to see you carry on the tradition.
As I think through the history of all kinds of music, where would be if we hadn't had folks like yourself.
Waiting to see more....wow the potential!!

James,
I was trying to remember back to early eighties at Shobud. If I remember right I believe we put a rectangle aluminum box on a superpro with switch and tone control between the necks. Micro switch with a small pot with black knob. It may have had both switches. Been awhile.

Bas It is good to see the ShoBud pics. I worked for ShoBud in Conway in early 80s. The person that is thought to be Katz looks like Yasu. Shot took him in during Nashville times. He came to Conway and then moved to DeQueen. He was a great player and taught me alot about building. Everytime I flip ov...

Did it everyday at the Shobud factory. I used an E tuning fork for reference and then used similiar technique as Bruce Bouton reference. Even did this when I played.

I remember when Ben Jack had his collection in the back of his music store in Fort Smith Arkansas. It was really neat. This is similar to the museum in Nashville that had lost its building do to progress.
Would be neat to find something in conjunction to house it.

I worked for ShoBud in Conway in early 80s before they moved to DeQueen. Were they in DeQueen in late 70s? Great looking and sounding guitar. I a...

Mallets play a big factor with the marimba. As do mallets so does picks/strings/bar weight/string pressure/attack. Material of instrument is a big factor but how a pickup is wound tends to be one of the bigest. Has anyone tried to interchange an old Emmons and Shobud pickup? We never tried that at t...

Depends on the size of the band. A smaller group would need more chord fill. I was playing a sit down stage show and took the Buddy idea of pulling my hands of off the guitar and smiling at the audience. I was told after our first opening night that I needed to at least act like I was playing. So th...
