Roy, In addition to steel music, I enjoy aviation (including models) and hate to hijack this thread, but my curiosity is getting the best of me. What is it that flies through the upper right hand corner your frame at 1:17? Is it some kind of Air Hog, micro R/C plane, or just a fancy paper airplane? ...

Absolutely beautiful.

I really loved the part from 0:14 to 0:25. Well done!

Did anyone else notice the airplane flying across the upper right corner of the frame at 1:17??

My cousin restored a Ford Fairlane 500 as his first car. It has been on blocks in a field for years and some mice made nests in the interior and died. It smelled bad. Tried EVERYTHING to get rid of the smell. Then, as a high school prank, his friends filled his whole car from floor to ceiling with c...

That sounds interesting. I'll have to give it a try.

I'll admit, I can wrap my brain around major and minor triads, 4 voice chords( maj7, 7, min7, m7b5), dim, aug, but when we start getting into the 9ths and 13ths, I start to glaze over a bit.... :\

Since this thread started, I have been playing with changing tunings, etc. I pulled out my Scotty tab books and found Tennessee Waltz with tuning C# E G A C E. I am playing an 8 string CruzTone so I have A C# E G A C E G This has been a lot of fun. Big fat major triad on the bottom strings, Full 4 n...

When starting out, an easy way to think about, and be able to easily find dominant 7th chords (for me anyway, your mileage may vary): C6 contains the same notes as Am7. So if you play string 3, 4, 5 open, you have A7 (no 3). Move up to the 3rd fret, you have C7 (no 3). This chord form works very wel...

Very nice, simple arrangement from which all kinds of fun can be had experimenting.

Can't help but do a hammer-on/pull-off on the 2nd string in the 5th measure ;)

Thanks Doug for posting. I have your pedal steel book, but mostly play non-pedal and always love any new tabs I can fiddle around with.

Roy, That is a really neat idea. When I first started messing with pedal steel, those "out of order" strings seemed crazy to me, but I soon came to really like them that way. Why didn't I think of this for lap steel? Now I think I'll "map out" your tuning to visualize scale and c...

I came from a 6-string background and was similarly overwhelmed at first. I was tempted to tune my lap steel to an "open" tuning or to normal guitar tuning, but resisted the urge because I saw the cool features of C6. I can get major and minor triads, dominant 7th (no 3rd) and minor 7th ch...

Uke/Bass duet

I have to agree that ukulele and bass make a wonderful pair for some beautiful, simple, yet elegant music. The uke is great for making beautiful chord voicings because the re-entrant tuning puts the higher notes closer together. The bass fills in the bottom perfectly... Great stuff! A Lyle Ritz reco...

Thanks guys! Earnest: I guess there is probably an amp in the input itself. I wasn't thinking of that. I am using a Mackie Spike. When recording DI, I would normally use an amp sim (POD, etc), tube pre-amp, etc to get the signal hot enough into the input. I guess I was referring to the fact that the...

My First CruzTone Recording

I have recorded my first song with the CruzTone. I plugged it straight into the computer with no amp, no amp sim, no pre-amp, etc. The only effects are compession and reverb. I am trying to demonstrate the tone of the guitar virtually "raw". This is not a perfect performance by any means. ...

CruzTone 8-String

Hello all. This is my first post. I have been lurking for over a year, but finally have a real reason to post a topic. My CruzTone is here! First, a little introduction. I have noticed threads about members who are pilots, hams, etc. I am both a pilot and a Ham (KI4NQX). I played lead guitar primari...
