Don't know about ZenDrive, but as far as Dumble emulators go, Mad Professor Simble works great with steel: https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=269493 I don't think they make them anymore but I've seen them for sale used at good prices. I am among the many who haven't played through Dumbl...

Ok, it's practice, but: Do a swell from silent to full on open, then the same swell with RKR engaged, ditto with RKL. I do that with chromatic runs on the lower strings with both knees when I need to drill independence beteween ankles and knees. BTW I have a Goodrich low profile, great VP.

Best guitar amp I ever had was a silverface pro reverb. Just the right amount of breakup in a typical room. I played my MSA sidekick through it and it sounded ok but now might think it lacked headroom for steel. It met its end in a hotel fire in Pickering many years ago. It was considerably lighter ...

TC unitune. I tune ET, anything beyond that I do by ear so I don't used sweetened settings (even though I've got a stroboflip). It's very accurate and easy to use. I clip it to a leg. (The right leg fwiw but I don't think it matters.) Works great in a loud setting.

Pete Drake did the studio version of Loretta Lynn's "Fist City" but there's a live TV version with Hal Rugg that is incredibly creative. Google "Fist City" and you'll find it.

Welcome to the forum and to the fairly small world of Toronto psg players, of which I am one. I'm a D10 player so can't speak to universals from personal experience. Susan Alcorn plays one and can get pretty much any sound you can think of and then some but then she's Susan Alcorn. I agree with Fred...

I always thought Sneaky Pete's parts on the choruses of Joni Mitchell's "California" had a descending Shepard tone-like quality, especially the second chorus right about 3:00 studio version.

After "Hey Joe", string together "Jumpin Jack Flash", "let's do the time warp again" and maybe a Freebird or two to fill in the cracks and you are there. It won't be pretty, though.

Steel guitar got popular in the C&W world through its jazzy role in Western Swing bands. Maybe it's losing popularity (if it is) because it's not jazzy enough.

Well who can argue with Buddy Guy. You need some unisons in pentatonic pockets which are available in a fairly standard copedent with a string 2 lower to C#/ 5 string A pedal often on same lever as string 9 lower and 10 string A pedal giving the same unison an octave lower. I have 7 string raise whi...
