My suggestion is before spending any money on a pedal steel to stay up until about 2:30 in the morning for about 6 or 7 nights in a row just to see if you can get used to the time warp when you can't stop until you figure this one thing out!!! Then I would probably buy a Jackson Blackjack. Good luck!

Sliding Scale Based On Performance
Dave, my advice would be to make the compensation based upon performance. The better they perform, the higher the percent. This way if they are serious about your playing habitats they'll work hard and have a chance to make more money. You can tie it into various increments. i.e., 10% of 1st 10K, 11...

Is Anyone Using Sennheiser 431s?
If you use one of these mics, could you give me your opinion on it for live performances on vocals? Thanks. Tom

To me ... there is nothing better than playing and singing with a group of musicians who have learned their craft well and are more concerned about making the song sound great than they are about making sure their instruments get heard above the other player. I have seen much too often a group do a ...

Matt, I ran into this back in the 70s when I was playing in the restaurant lounges back in Orlando. They basically did not want to share the music draw with the competition. Back then, they almost all had a really good bar business. The music brought a lot of $$ to the cash drawer and they didn't wa...

Dion, I too have a 3-1 old Sho Bud. I have only been playing (PSG) for a couple of months but I think you get out of it what you put in it. I also have a Super Pro that has 5 knee levers on it but I know that I am not ready for that configuration. I am trying to learn as much as I can on the 3-1. Th...

Hey Dick .... this is my class!!! Thanks for all the great responses. This goes to show how many country honky tonk songs are out there (some that even I was thinking about).... songs that I hope everyone has in their play lists on a regular basis. I both play and sing in the band and I think ...

David, regarding the festivals, you need to look at the original contract to determine what rights the promoter has. If the contract is silent about his right to video your performance then I would argue that your band has the right to its performance and images. You could go to small claims court a...

Marlin, your response is a certainly a reasonable explanation of how/why greed controls the system. Some, but not all of it needs to be taken with a healthy grain of salt. I for one, do not buy that young people won't listen to country. They listen to what they are exposed to. The other side of the ...

Death To Traditional Country ...... I THINK NOT!
Country music deserves its rightful place. Call it old country or traditional or classic country. I don't care ... but just don't refer to what is being hyped today as being country. It isn't! What happened to it? GREED! Hopefully, I don't need to paraphrase that for anyone. It didn't just happen ov...

I Know It When I Hear It
Former member of the Supremes (court) Justice Stewart wrote in the early sixties that he could not define pornography ... but he knew it when he saw it! I think it is much the same with trying to define Country Music. I know it when I hear it ... and a lot of what I hear today "ain't it" ....

I am not sure if it is a concern or not but if you look closely at the pictures ... the serial numbers appear to have been made with different stamps. Just my observation.

Inlay For Sho Bud
Does anyone know if Sho Bud inlays are available. I am in the process of refinishing my SuperPro that had been refinished once before (not by me) and the inlay needs to be replaced. Thanks. Tom
