you can`t go wron with either one. I once owned an S 10 Expo, just as good as my Ultra. Customer Support on GFI is legendary, but also great on Mullen as everybody says. I would consider the Mullen a bit more of a traditionell design, never played one but i`m sure they`re top notch. Good luck with e...

i agree, John, it`s also easier on bar control in my opinion, better view on the fret makes it more natural to keep the bar straight.
Thanks for all your thoughts, guys.

how do you set up your guitar? Cranked or level?

i checked the level of my guitar standing on a plain level surface.
i found out it was slightly cranked toward me.
After lenghtening my back legs the guitar now is horizontally which is more comfortable to play to me.
What`s your experiences?

never thought too much about this , but recently I found out that i w as putting more pressure on the bar than necessary
Especially in the higher registers I notice a remarkably increase in sustain when I just use the bar weight.
now i have to get used to get a lighter touch on the bar hand.

Ethan, i`m glad it worked for you so far. The more you unwind the brighter you can expect your pickup to sound. One of my favourite players, Tommy Detamore uses around 14,5 on his push pull guitars. Old Emmons Single Coils can be around 12, even less sometimes. I love the cutting and twangy Sound of...

depending on what you want. Pickups for steel guitars have gotten hotter nowadays, what many players might prefer. A lot of us are hooked on the older sounds of our ravourite records. those were mainly recorded with much lighter pickups, genering a brighter sound and more twang especially on the low...

i agree, Steve, after purchasing the first one i soon got me a second. I really appreciate the light weight and the pedal has all a steel guitar pedal needs. i`m very satisfied with this product and always recommend it to anybody who`s looking for a volume pedal.

thaks for your input, guys, i used to try different pre sets on my peterson tuners, they were okay but never really satisfied me. the best instruction i got was on the Paul Franklin basic course where he takes his I phone, tunes the E`s straight and does the rest by ear. following that improved my i...

i have the peterson app on my i phone. with the matching adapter you can tune your guitar precisely even under noisy conditions if you have written down the offsets in cent.
i use the Strobo HD on my gigs with my own sweetened tuning that i have uploaded at peterson but the i phone works just as well.

i agree with Scott,
this guitar looks well beaten in and surely sounds great.
i would do a normal cleaning and a setup and leave this beauty as it is.
GFI guitars are almost indestructable, i have one from 2004 and it`s a reliable workhorse in the same colour.

Thanks Francesco, coming back to the original question: I use a modfied Wallace Truetone, stripped down to 16 kilo/ohm and i lowered it to 5mm (more than 3 quarters) and get remarkably better results than with 2 quarters. Don`t be afraid to increase the pickup/string distance, it may result in a muc...

Hi Francesco, i would consider a new 705, don`t put too much attention to the chrome legend. Many here share the opinion that the new ones are very good too and much more available and affordable. I have one myself and it`s a great pickup, though i ended up using a single coil. Best wishes to you.
