Zach is one of my favorite players. Definitely go check them out, they put on a great show. I saw them last year and Zach was great to talk to after the show.

If you can't make it out to a Josh Turner show, here is a Joshua Hedley stream from Dee's Lounge in Nashville from a couple of years ago that features some fantastic playing by Tyler Hall:

I believe the steel player is Stephen “Tebbs” Karney.

I've been enjoying a lot of the Dee's livestreams (and they are archived) on Youtube. A lot of great steel music being played on there!

How did you decide?

I know there is a lot of subjectivity to this question, but I'm curious about personal experience.

How did you decide on the steel you play now? Price? Availability? Influence of your favorite player? What was your reasoning?

Have any of you actually used it on a gig? Using it in the practice room doesn’t give a good comparison. I don't have much to compare it to other than my previous rig, but I used it a full-band practice this week for the first time and everyone thought it sounded great. I run direct in nearly every...

Emmons guide?

(I'm not sure if this is the right section to ask this, so feel free to move, mods)

Does anyone know of a sort of guide to the differences in the various models of Emmons guitars? I'm beginning to shop around and I see some of the models and don't really know the differences.

Thanks.

I predominately play direct and I gather from a couple of posts that this would be possible with the Sesh.400. Is this correct? (From Sesh to DI to board)

Thanks Everyone!

Rickey, there wasn't a particular track, I liked the steel and dobro on the whole thing!

And now that I know if it Mike Johnson and Josh Swift, I'm not surprised. Thanks for the info Samuel!

Ramblin' Fever

Anyone ever play the intro to Merle Haggard's "Ramblin' Fever" on E9 steel? Seem like it would be a fun one. I've looked around for tab but haven't had any luck.

When I was recently on this search, I ended up with this from Amazon. It folds up flat and the way the legs are a U makes it easy to maneuver around. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/6335_61TYSTkmAqL_AC_SX522__1.jpg I don't have a large pedalboard, though, just the HX Effects and usually ...

Favorite solo from Mr. Lindley

As I am sure we are all spinning his music today in tribute, I thought it might be nice to share some of our favorite solos or songs from the master. I'll take the obvious two: "Running on Empty" and "These Days" from Jackson Browne. Every time I listen to them I get the overwhel...

Recommendation needed - standing up

I'd like to get a lap steel I can play standing up (dobro style, not on a stand) and I'm looking for recommendations on what brands are recommended. Mainly playing rock/blues/country on it.

No set budget (willing to save, I've got time!)

Thanks!

During the verses could you play the fills Ed King plays (or a version of them)? In the original he didn't play any rhythm, only the fills. Another solo idea might be to listen to the live version from Skynyrd's 1987 "Southern by the Grace of God" tribute tour recording where Charlie Danie...
