Re: Certano or Duesenberg levers on a Gretsch Lap steel
Hi all. I'm looking at getting either the Duesenberg Multibender or the Certano Bender (possibly with the roller bridge) for a Gretsch Electromatic Lap Steel. I was wondering what might be best. The Certano is less massive and looks like an easier install, but a friend of mine who installed one rem...

Thanks for the responses folks. I notice that Certano make a Lapsteel model and a lower profile guitar model. I wonder if simply using the lower profile model on a lap steel might cure the break angle issue. Perhaps an email to Certano to discuss is in order. Still interested any more wisdom that yo...

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll get onto the temporary fix tomorrow but I am still going to purchase a couple more changer fingers for insurance! BTW does anyone know a hum cancelling pickup that'll fit my Maverick and it's three screws into the body mounting? I have to practice around computer...

Help, I need a part for my broken Maverick!!!
Hi there learned forum folk. Grant the beginner from Western Australia again! I was having my regular Saturday lesson with Perth based Steel Guitar Maestro Lucky Oceans today..very enjoyable and inspiring as usual. Unfortunately the fun was curtailed when I broke my the 10th string pull finger on my...

Although I'd been aware of PSG on numerous records over the years it was actually Greg's playing on seminal 90's records by people like KD lang and Matthew Sweet at a time I wasn't listening to country but playing in Alternative rock bands that made me really fall in love with the instrument and asp...

So, aside from the Vegemite bashing (I love the stuff btw) does anyone here HAVE an Anapeg guitar. What is this waiting list that everyone speaks of, I take it there's a long queue? What is it that makes them special is there any particular innovation or is it just a question of great quality, build...

Yer asking for a personal opinion and I'm sure you'll get a few. Some say that the extra mass produces a different tone and that may or not be true. In my opinion the difference (if any) is too slight to be an issue except for perhaps the most discerning ear. I considered an LDG for a time but chos...

Thanks for that. I notice that there seem to be other single double models too. I'm also curious as to whether the SD body creates a different tone by virtue of the extra mass. I guess you can all see what I'm driving at-whether a Lloyd Green has advantages for the premium they seem to command over ...

Difference between LDG and other model single neck ShoBuds?
Please excuse my new steel player ignorance learned collegues! I initially thought that the Lloyd Green ShoBuds were a longer scale than most ShoBuds but from what I'm reading that's not the case excepting Lloyd's personal guitar. So, my question is what makes a Lloyd Green model different (superior...

Thanks David, I'll open it up and have a look.David Nugent wrote:Grant...The word "Clarostat" should be stamped on the body of the pot. Removing the plate on the bottom of the pedal should expose the pot sufficiently to read the name.

Re: VP
Thanks David.David Nugent wrote:Grant...If you're pedal has a Clarostat pot, therein lies your problem I believe. My pedal was acting exactly like that until I replaced the pot with a Dunlop (available from Tom Bradshaw.)
Is the Clarostat pot easy to identify compared to the Dunlop?

Yeah it's the hum that's the issue for me. It's a funny thing because the hum from my Telecasters doesn't worry me at all but with the Steel the hum during quieter passages I find annoying. Still, as I've learned with guitar sometimes it's a tradeoff. I've tried many humbucking single-coil sized rep...

L120 pedal has almost no "swell"
I've noticed that my Goodrich L120 has almost no travel.
Is this normal for this model. It seems to go from full to off in even less than the physical movement of the pedal.

Maverick pickup replacement...Pros and Cons?
Replacing my Maverick's single coil pickup with a hum-cancelling design?
Will I be losing a unique tone along with the hum?

Japanese Stores selling Pedal Steels?
A bit of an obscure question perhaps...or not, I don't really know.
Anyway. In a couple of weeks I'm off to Japan on holiday. Japan is well known for having some pretty good guitar stores but I was wondering if any of them carry a good range of Pedal Steels?

T-Rex Replica
I have a T-Rex replica that's on my guitar board but I enjoy using it for my steel too. While it is digital it has a "brown" switch which darkens the repeats for a more "analog" tone which is what I tend to use with my Tele but tend to leave off with the steel for more pristine r...
