In a different world.

Scout says:it's also kind of a shame that he doesn't acknowledge all the great players who played jazz on the instrument.
My thoughts exactly, JB, SW, BE were greater players than he ever was..yet he does not even mention them..I was put off by his omissions.

South

"South" was a big instrumental in the mid to late 50's...Buddy Merrill did a great job on his four neck steel...Buddy never gets enough credit...IMHO.

string separation..very important

Thanks b0b, string spacing is very important...the string spacing on my Williams is closer than on my Mullen..about
11/32 on the Mullen and 10/32 on the Williams..I like the wider string separation.

$4300 well spent!

This is a great deal with Mr. Cox's D13 tuning already on it and an inspection from Jim Palenscar. I might add that Jim Palenscar is a great guy to deal with. It might take a long time to learn the D13th tuning but if you are young it will be worth it.

Sales

Remember, regardless of how good an artist is..the public decides what it will buy...if eight million kids cry "Mommy buy me this CD" the artist will do great. The kids control the music industry....Kids buy CD's...adults buy cars and houses.....for the most part.

College

Did College bring about the demise of the pedal Steel Guitar? Most know that to achieve proficiency on the pedal steel is very time consuming. Most young people have to study for college if they want to get a good paying career. This time spent on college leaves little time for learning the pedal st...

Buddy Emmons played single note lines that were fantastic,!

they were long, they were clean and they were musical. When I listened to his improvisation on the song "I love you because"..the one he did with the piano player on the Ray Price show, I realized what great taste he had in the improv lines he played. Some players play fast but their impro...

nightmare project

this looks like a very difficult project and should only be sold face to face so the buyer knows what he is getting into...parts may or may not be available and the buyer needs to have the skill to rebuild it..few good players have the skill to build and play..but maybe you can find one of the few.....

This is a super bargain..the only thing I would have Mike do (while it is still there at the factory) is change the E9th over to the Emmons setup and put a couple flags on the outermost knee levers. Larry Baker, I agree with you "Live Steel Strings" are the best I ever found for the E9th tuning..they just never break on my Mullen. I get them from Hopewell, VA. 23860

You got the bottom G# back on your E9th

This is a great buy..you now have your bottom G# back on your E9th neck...when they went to a ten string from an 8 string you gained two strings but then they put three new high strings on the E9th and you lost the bottom G#...now you have it back with an eleven stringer..they should all be that way.
