George,Have you thought about borrowing another tape machine that has the proper line out connections.A machine as old as that Revere probably had full track heads and the tapes could be played on a more modern 1/4 track stereo machine. If your tapes were recorded at 3and3/4 fps you could play them o...

It's been my humble experience that when
playing up passed the 12th fret,it's a lot easier playing in tune using 2 strings than
3 strings.Sometimes 1 string sounds great
especially when John Huey plays a single note
and slides to new position and plays it again.

My favorite is "IDon't Feel at Home in your arms anymore"The tune is a bit of a hymn
ripoff,but maybe that's why I like it.

Having a friend with needle nose pliers
gently putting a bit of pressure and pulling
on the components being de-soldered sure
helps.Carefully studying the schematics that
come with the kit and pre-locating all the components to be swapped also makes the job easier.

Regarding the 912 pick-up,I love the tone
but where it really shines is the humbucking
aspect.If you're into recording you'll love the 912 as it's totally silent.

Most of what you guys are talking about is over my head, but it reminds me of playing a button accordian when I was a kid.You only had two chords and I guess the same thing
applies on a blues harp.Very interesting thread.Jake Doell in Vancouver.

I played for Tommy one weekend years ago.
He was so nice and decent that I've never forgotten him.I think that maybe he was too
nice to make it in the business.I'll never
forget him singing "HIGH ON A HILLTOP"
