Gibson Mastertone Lessons
I have a number of lessons from the Gibson Mastertone System for Steel Guitar (1939/40) in E 7 tuning and would like to complete the set. Does anyone have any or know anything about these lessons? Any help or info would be appreciated.

Stringmaster blanks
I got a mahogany blank and finished it with clear lacquer. Lollar pups and it turned out great. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1504/5872__DSC0435_1.jpg http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1504/5872__DSC0437_1.jpg http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1504/5872__DSC0438_1.jpg http://bb.steel...

Console Grande Hum
I had the same problem with my Double Neck too. I couldn't find a problem with the wiring either. I used electricians tape on the ends of the output jack and used copper shielding as best I could around the jack and hole. No more hum. I have a CG triple neck and it works just fine with no modificati...

Fessenden D 10 , 8 & 5 w/ B.L. L-710 pups, & case
This one is a rosewood laminate, bought it new from Al Brisco in 2006 and it hasn't left the house since. Played very little before my bout with cancer and I'm not going to persue pedal steel. Staying with my Gibson Console Grande and Stringmasters for now. Asking $2,500.00 and I will pay the Fedex ...

Don (BSG) made special leg sockets so I wouldn't have to do much fitting to my my Gibson Console Grande D2 (the factory legs were a problem). The legs were the right height and everything went well. It's the second time he's helped me out with a machining problem and I'm very happy with the reults. ...

I use Rick Alexanders suggestions on my T8 and with minor tweeking you can have many tunings. Since you come from a pedal background tuning changes should be fairly simple. I use Cobra Coils and/or Jagwire strings as they seem to give the best sustain and crisp tones. Have a look at Ricks suggestion...

I also have an ash model with the P 90 and am satisfied with the sound. I didn't like the bridge arrangement so I replaced the bridge with a Tele style string through body type and I find that much easier to change strings. My amp is a Mesa Boogie and it's really hot so I have to use the tone contro...

I think if you visit Rick Alexanders Chart on tunings, a lot of mystery will evaporate. With 3 tunings you have quick access to many popular tunings in use today. If you have an electronic tuner, changes are quick and easy. Once players are more experienced, they can focus on 1 or 2 tunings and set ...

A straight down photo of the tuning keys would help. I say this because the tuners may be in backwards although the guitar does appear to be well made but it should be checked out. The next thing to find out is if the tuners are the adjustable type. They may be too loose and a simple tightening can ...

I use Scotty's E 13th, A6 and E7 string sets on my Remington and Stringmaster D 8's and on the T 8. On the D 8's I use E13th and A 6 so I can tune to C6 high or low. The A6 can also be E7. I have found them to be very serviceable and the price is good too. I usually order 12 sets at a time. www.just...

I found Rick Alexanders chart to be very helpful. Notice with an A6 as a base you can quickly make it many tunings. Only 2 or three strings to re tune if you want C6. Only 1 gauge of strings needed until you focus on a favourite tuning. www.rickalexander.com/BigSteel/Tunings.html I use a Pederson st...

I don't know how the thing works when it's set up properly. I couln't get it to do anything. There was a lot of static and AC interference when plugged in. While tracking down the cause I disconnected the jack and push button and re soldered some frayed switch connections, improved the grounding and...

1956 Stringmaster T8
I recently aquired a 1956 T8 Stringmaster. The third neck has a Jack and a white push button on the tailpiece. This does not appear to be an aftermarket home improvement but factory installed. How does ths effect the operation of the guitar. Someone has insulated the Jack leaving an open circuit so ...

Asking for any kind of directions takes me out of the Macho Man's Club, but this is important. I play a Remington D8 non pedal steel E 13th and A6 tunings mostly, through a Mesa Boogie DC 5 amp with a Goodrich pedal. I want to move into pedal steel and have narrowed down my choices to GFI Ultra S-10...
