Cut tail or split tail were never Emmons company terms. The consumers in steel guitar land started that description.

Exposed threads will cause noise and you can feel it in the pedal action. Maybe you can position that rod in the first row of bellcrank holes.

Ron did prefer the tone of the bolt on. He liked brightness and found that design to have the most belltone. In his opinion low frequencies where not hard to produce. His personal guitar was a bolt on.

Tyler, you are correct, a bolt on is when the changer assembly is mounted to an all aluminum neck. A wooden neck guitar is just that, a wooden neck with an aluminum insert for housing the pickup which the changer assembly is also mounted. Whoops, slightly misread the statement. Ron Lashley, Sr. and ...

Thanks for the great pics. I'm happy to see him behind one the two Legrands that I built for him. I witnessed him playing this guitar at the 98' convention. That was my last attendance.

P.s.

I expect no argument or rebuttal to the above story. It is the story as told to me by Ron Lashley. Both Buddy and Ron are dead and they are the only one's that knew actual truth. As far as I'm concerned it's a dead horse that has been flogged too many times and is irrelevant to start with along with...

The beginnings

I'll tell Ron's side of the story, here goes. Ron decided to build a guitar after Shot Jackson brushed him off thinking he had no money. Ron took a guitar he had built to show Buddy at a Ray Price show. Buddy liked what Ron was doing and because he had ideas that Shot wouldn't try ask Ron to give it...

The Dekley episode was mentioned. Bubby played the guitar on a TV taping, breaching contract. That was the END! Further, Ron was not the bad guy. He walked away from the suit actually owed money. Many years later when we reissued the Black album on CD, Ron, on his own and in good faith, sent Buddy a...

Since some of your guys want to go there, here it is. The agreement with the company was 5% of anything with the Emmons name on it. Ron was just sending random checks on a regular basis which included some sales beyond the agreement. Buddy was actually paid ahead so a month came up that cash was tig...

Do not ruin the guitar and it's value by adding strips or placing material over the ledge. Just fill the gap in with some JB Weld and file the edge smooth.

This is caused from wear because of a lack of lubrication. It has nothing to do with a lack of quality. Players beware that this is an area that should get attention when servicing your guitar. I fix this all the time using JB Weld.

Another of his guitars that came through the shop once, which I wanted to keep, was a PP that was covered with polished aluminum sheeting held on by screws which appeared as rivets. Not sure what it was about but surely different. I think Weldon was a quinnea pig for Ron's experiments.
