Holy moly - is that a Lowrey? Yes. As far as I'm concerned, it is "The Lowrey". The same model as Garth Hudson played with The Band back in the old days. I was looking for an organ to mess around on, and this one showed up, and I could not resist. Right now my toddler grandson plays on it...

It does, but the spacing is as wide as a six string guitar, so I figure it was designed to be two separate necks.

What kind of strings should I put on this beast?

A friend of mine inherited this steel homemade steel guitar, and brought it to me to try and resurrect. I need to know what suggested tuning for each neck? I'm thinking an E tuning and a G tuning, but I have no experience on slide with anything but E9 on a Blanton I used to have. Basically it is two...

I do like Max's idea though, maybe make the glove electric with colored LED lights and a heating/cooling system for those seasonal outdoor gigs Run with it, Ian. I just have the ideas...I don't do anything with them. I wish I'd copyrighted the "Are you sure?" question back when I was a co...

To take this one step further, what about a really thin glove with the picks attached to it. It could be like one of those support gloves that massage your fingers while you play. You could just slip the glove off before you drink that beer at break time.

Evans 15" Speaker Cabinet w/speaker

Selling an Evans 15" Speaker Cabinet w/speaker. I do not know anything about the speaker inside, but I have included pictures. It works great. The cabinet is a little rough, but not bad. This could be a good cabinet to take on dusty outdoor gigs, where you don't want to take your fancy stuff. I...

Peavey Classic 50 4/10 Amplifier

This Peavey Classic 50 4/10 Amplifier was made in the mid 1990s here in the USA. I bought it a few years ago, and sent the amplifier back to Peavey for minor repairs. New tubes we added at the time. It works great! It sounds great. I'm just moving to lighter amps. Included is a Vox foot pedal for ch...

This has been a good thread for me to read today. I kind of stalled out on the steel a while back, mainly for personal reasons, like time constraints, a knee surgery, and other stupid stuff. Now I'm trying to get back to it, and I need to learn all the scales, melodies, and harmony lines on PSG. The...

I wanted to ask this same kind of question. Can the polarity in the light fixture make a difference in the amount of noise in the guitars? I have always had noise from the overhead light in my music room. My old guitars all have single coil pickups, and when that light is on, the noise level is unbe...

I learned about naptha years ago in a violin shop. The owner had a gallon can of it, and a cloth, and was cleaning the surfaces of a very old 'cello with it. He said that the reason it was safe on the finish was because it evaporated before it had time to react with the finish. I am always careful n...

Model 6A Super Sustain Match Box - help with this, please

Ok, my son got this unit, the Model 6A Super Sustain Match Box, in trade, and sent it to me to try out, as I have a pedal steel guitar, and he doesn't. (Not that I didn't offer him one...) Anyway, I hooked it up to my Blanton, and it doesn't seem to do anything. The signal comes out, but only if I t...

Our part of the country is very humid, so that can be a real problem here. My instruments are in a little building that was way too wet, on the verge of mildew.
