Thanks Bill. It's probably my favorite and I have some pretty nice Stringmasters for comparison. When you play this guitar through a small vintage tube amp like a Fender Champ, its like dejavu - heard that same tone on many vintage western swing recordings. I have corresponded with Rick and hope to ...

This was the last one I had from the post on tuner replacement/repair last year... Thanks to George Ghrun who sent me Terry Mueller's email address - tkm1957@aol.com with a note that he can repair Stringmaster tuners. Terry emailed right back with this information: "I can repair the Stringmaste...

Golden Hill Ramblers - back to Texas?

Dave B.,

How about a gig at the Contenental Club? Anyone else connected in Austin wanting to make this happen? Love to see them at Casbeers here in S.A. or at some place where they would be appreciated.

Thanks Rick - that is great detailed info and completly new to me. But like I always say...

"If it ain't broke... now wait a second here, maybe it is broke, or at least 40% broke, dad gum I think it is broke - I'll never be satisfied now unless I get this done!"

: )

I love my Fender Pro. It has a vintage sound heard in many of the old western swing recordings that even my Stringmaster can't duplicate. My question is what is re-gaussing and how do you know if you would need it or not?

A show worth the plane ticket...

T.K. Smith has to be my favorite guitar player and while I have never heard him live with Jeremy Wakefield I was lucky enough to see him with the Golden Hill Ramblers here in San Antonio. Last November I brought the Ramblers in from San Diego to play for a private party at the grand opening of my ne...

First off Bill and John, I am not a good enough player to benefit from the Mojo. I saved two Stringmasters from a trip to Japan (where guitar investors are pretty savy, and not that relocating to Japan is a bad thing - but I personally think of these guitars as part of American musical history and w...

Replacing Tuners on Stringmasters and Fender Pedal Steels

I wanted to see if anyone has found a good replacement key for the old Lollipop style tuners on older Fender Pro's and older Stringmaster. I have a dual neck Pro and a 4 neck Stringmaster (mint, except for a couple of bad keys) with these Lolipos. I have mastered (I think) replacing Kluson keys on t...

John, that is great news. I would love to see photos if you have any and would also like to hear what Ron had to say. I have at least one tuner bank that I will send to Terry. I replaced all the tuners on a very nice Stringmaster Tripple with the All-Parts and I have to tell you they work great. So ...

A forum friend wrote me and ask me a little more about Cindy's performance, so I'll add a little more. I took that picture with my little digital and it does not do her justice. She is 5' 6" or 5' '7" and she is as pretty on the inside as she is out. She had a genuine smile on her face the...

What a show she puts on and what a nice person. She played here in San Antonio a few weeks back with Redd Volkaert and came over to our table to talk Stringmasters because someone told her we were steelheads. She signed a Stringmaster photo for us and commented she was glad to have place she could b...

John Lang sent me these very detailed photos of his 53' Stringmaster. First thing I notice is there is no slot to slide the tuner on to the pan. Obviously, the lollipop button is going to have to be removed. My friend who makes jewelry suggests placing the pan on an iron to heat the entire assembly ...

John, there is a sign in a restaurant down the street that says "It was a brave man who ate the first oyster". Not so sure I want to be the first, but I might. I would need to order more keys since I just have 6. If the tunning buttons were period correct I would do it for sure. It would g...

Check out these Grover tuners. This is the closest I have found to a tuner that might fit 1st generation Stringmasters and Dual Pro's (with modification). Notice the replacement buttons also available and the removable gear. Part number for the ones I bought in photo is H97-18N - note single hole on...

Terry Mueler is out of town until next week and he emailed me and ask me to wait until next week to send tuners, so you may not be able to reach him by phone or email. John, I also have a Dual Pro with the older style tuners that is about one string change from failing. One gear slips now but will catch enough to allow it to be tuned. Looks like this is another whole project to try and figure out. Perhaps Terry can fix these as well. Once again, it would be nice t...

Andy, from what you have said I would suppose that the routings where the pan goes could all be different. In some cases you might need to grind and in others you might need to pad. In either case you still will need to grind the length. The important thing is to realize that since the tuners are no...

I have had the new keys on my Stringmaster in place for a few days now and I wanted to comment on how great they work. Another Great find on the Forum!

I just got in the Black GFI D10 from Jim Simon and the guitar is BRAND SPANKIN NEW! I guess Jim is one to understate things and certainly takes good care of his guitars. I have bought several guitars off this list and they have all been nice, but this is definately the best. Jim, hope you got throug...

Stringmaster Tuning Pan Complete w/Keys

I am looking for either a complete tuning pan for an 8 string Stringmaster or the banks of four tuning keys bass side. Pans w/keys from 400 and 800 would be fine as well as Stringmaster.

Thanks - Whit

I just bought Jim's D10 GFI today and he told me he still has this Zeta fiddle. While my wife can't tell one steel guitar from another she damn sure would recognise a new fiddle so I passed on that one. These baby's are nearly 2K so this looks like a good deal. And like the song says "If you go...
