I had an apparently old recording that was playing during a stupidvideo.com video. I wanted to know if anyone knows who did it and the name of it. Sounds like a good western swing type singer. The words go something like this....... IF only I had fifty million dollars-if tuesday weld would only be m...

c6 problem
Jim, I think that you are correct and all I need to do is turn the nylonb tuner counterclockwise till it comes back to F#. I am sure that will solve it. I am new enough to this that it is hard to tell which nylon tuner to turn at all times. What causes it to do this? I am not aware that i did anythi...

c6 problem
John, I think that lowering the 5string a 1/2 step to F# would always be the proper thing because that does make it a D9 chord as you pointed out. I think what my guitar is doing is all wrong for some reason , but i am not sure how to correct it. gene

C6 problem
I have recently been looking at the C6 neck more frequently. The info that i am studying from say that the 5pedal should raise the 10string a whole step to D and raise the 9 string 1/2 step to F#. and lower the 5string 1/2/ step to F#. but my 5pedal lowers the 5string a whole step to G. Is this a ch...

string blocking with speed playing
Fantastic playing . I am a relative newcomer to pedal steel but i am just beginning to be able to palm and pick block fairly succesfully. but it seems in giant steps that the right hand is not moving at all in the video.Does one not need to block every note when playing fast or what? I know that you...

loud rock music
As a guitar player i nevcr got to play as loud as these rockers do but i think that they also can be more effective with their pull-offs and hammer-ons at high volume, and i think it is easier to play faster with these techniques at high volume. I dont think they have to play like a jazz group but i...

I have one pedal steel guitar ( MCI-D10 ), but I also keep set up a nonpedal triple neck ( triple *8), a beautiful red one made for me by Herb Remington a couple of years ago. I also still have my original 6 string Gibson lap steel which I started on at age 11, And I have a triple 8 nonpedl fender f...

pedal rod tuning
Is their a standard way of remembering which one of the pedal tuning rods go with which pedals ? or are they all different on different steels? Every time I tune my pedals by rotating the tuning rods on the right side of the steel, I go through the same process of some experinmenting to be sure what...

Dan , I read music very well and have extensive knowledge about music theory having been trained that way in piano and jazz guitar. I do play strictly with tab on steel however. Frequently I try to figure out what the notes are on the music staff because it helps me to be more organized on the steel...

13th flat 9 locations
When I read the post on the locations of the min7 flat five locations on pedal steel it reminded me that i would like to know where one obtains the 13th flat 9 chord. The most useful for melody would be to have the 13th note itself on the top string. Thanks, gene jones

I purchased an mci steel about 10-12 years ago and i was wondering if anyone knew how to tell how old it is. It is a D-10, 8/4 and it has a number underneath it that say i believe 7847. I think that the mci was a bud carter design guitar, but does anyone know something about how long they were made,...
