Chuck, A tremendous amount of effort goes into the organization of these events and I want to thank you for a great weekend in Northern Virginia. There was a lot of great music and everyone had a good time. Thanks also to Mike Sweeney, who spent time Friday sharing knowledge. Now I have to put some ...

To be fair, this isn't an eBay problem. The problem of "phishing" for information has been a serious one for several years and it seems to be increasing these days. The spam and phishing filters that are now part of most email packages seem to help, but some will still get through. You sho...

Thanks for the info. I'm located in Rockville and will try to get by this evening. The pedal steel is new to this 6-string player, but my heart's in the right place. I just can't convince my fingers and feet . . . . <g>

I've been waiting for something within driving distance and this is in my front yard (practically). Unfortunately, I'm tied up this evening and don't know if I'll get free in time. Have a great time. Darn.

It seems clear that everyone has a good idea of the sound they're striving for, and most have combinations they've adopted as workable. As I've just started to try and tackle the steel, I've asked a lot of questions of those I've come in contact with and one theme seems to be the weight. Most of us ...

Take a look at http://www.paypalsucks.com/ I don't believe that most of us would have a problem with PayPal, but there are some who have had to wait for their money for six months and there's no real mechanism set up to appeal a decision by PayPal's management. This is still a very young industry, a...

I managed a couple of Radio Shack stores in the early 70's, and they were Company owned. There were a handfull of stores that were locally owned, but Radio Shack was centrally managed with centralized product development and distribution. If my fading memory serves, Radio Shack was a small electroni...

Pedal Steel Tab site in the UK

While looking for a particular song I found this site: http://www.micksguits.btinternet.co.uk/tab/index.html

I'm very new to the Pedal Steel and hadn't see this site referenced in the Forum.

I don't think a Western Union payment is less secure than PayPal or a Money Order, per se. In one "sting" operation that I am aware of, Western Union was selected as a way to secure payment because they collected positive identification when the payment was made. But the rule of thumb shou...

In my experience, most (recent) DVD burners will burn a variety of formats, including CD-R and CD-RW (which shouldn't be used for music CDs). The software you use will define how complex the task is, and how difficult it will be to teach someone who isn't too computer literate (assuming that's an is...

I'm new to the pedal steel but in my search for an instrument it was mentioned that a smaller frame puts the knee levers on a closer to the pedals, forcing you to sit forward further. MIDI is a process of computer control for musical equipment, but there's not a lot on a string instrument to control electronically. I would suspect that MIDI was being used to control changes in multiple effects systems, but I'm interested in hearing how it was applied.
