Anyone Know What This Critter IS?

Could use an ID on this guitar located in a guitar shop in York, Pa. Anyone recognize it?

Vintage47 Amps

I am more of a blues rock player, but I have been salivating over these reproductions of old Valco Supro amps made by a Chicago area guitarist. I bet these would sound great for lapsteel and they are reasonably priced.

Thanks for the suggestions. My pedal probably does just need a new pot but if I can't replace it inexpensively, I may look into getting a new, more reliable alternative. I am a bit miffed that the Fender conked out in less than a year from light use. The Hilton sounds pricey but the Dennis is a poss...

Volume Pedals

What do forumites recommend for volume pedals? I was using a fender reissue volume and tone pedal but it got increasingly noisy and now barely works (after a year of only moderate use). Want to replace it with another unit as I use volume swells in my playing from time to time and it is just conveni...

This reads like a discussion of how to hold a golf club! If you are doing slants, part of your problem may come from twisting your wrist to maneuver the bar as opposed to turning it in your fingers. That was what I used to do until I got more comfortable holding on to the bar with my fingers (and Ji...

I got one of Tom's New Yorker models over the holidays and could not be happier with the workmanship, sound and playability. Tom is a master craftsman. I thought my wife would kill me for getting another guitar but once she saw it, the artistic beauty of the piece saved my life. It leans against a w...

I have a McIntyre feather in my Lazy River Weissenborn and have played it in a number of live situations, including with a full band with drum set. I run it through a LR Baggs preamp into the board. Never had a feed back problem even at pretty loud volume.

Below is my link. A couple of my songs are played on a Kurt Schoen turbo steel, the subject of a thread a few months ago. The instrumental is played on a Lazy River weiss, walnut body, spruce top.

May have overstated the metallic echo, it's a subtle vibe, but I do get a hint of a reverb sort of presence, kind of like that echo thing that happens in the NYC subways late at night (I'm sure that I am only making matters worse the more I explain).

I've had my Dan Walsh Frying Pan model for almost three years and I love it, play it all the time both plugged and unplugged (for practice). I play mostly blues on it with some distortion but have played some more country tunes on it as well with a cleaner tone. It has a great, unique sound. I hear ...

Another Satisfied Lazy River Weis Owner

Add my voice to the chorus of satisfied Lazy River Weiss owners. Had my spruce/walnut instrument about a year and a half and I couldn't be happier with its tone. I play it at a local coffee house and I always get compliments on its sound. Rance is the Man! I researched the purchase a long time befor...

Lap Steel Construction Questions

Having a guitar maker build me a lap steel. He's very open to my input on design features. What's a good spacing between strings? I currently have a Lazy River Weissenthingy which I find very comfortable to play. Also, he usually makes resonator instruments and uses a wooden saddle. I know there is ...

I had Rance build a spruce/walnut Weiss for me last year, I was also swayed partially by Steinar's clips on his web site. You will be very pleased with how the sound develops over the next few months. Liked your clips, very cool tunes, heard a little Nick Drake influence in the short vocal on the se...

Incredible performances. I love how Brozman synthesizes all of his influences into whatever style he is playing, how the Hindustani scales sneak into the blues and vice versa. He is truly an inspirational musician.

Welcome to the forum. Really liked your tunes on MySpace, I hear kind of a Bill Frissell vibe in your music, which I mean as a compliment, he's one of my favorite contemporary jazz composers. I installed a McIntyre feather pick up in my Lazy River Weissenborn, the pick up recommended by Rance White of Lazy River. Using it with an L.R Baggs preamp and I am blown away with the sound quality. It's an under saddle pick up but may be an option for you.

Got to put in a good word for the Lazy River. Got one of their black walnut, spruce top Weisses two months ago and I can't put it down. The sound is incredible, the bass has a sort of growl to it which is great for the blues tunes I mostly play on it, and the high notes have a harp-like quality. Did...

There is no right path in life or music. I have been deeply moved in my life by highly technically accomplished guitarists like Joe Pass who clearly knew much about theory. I also get off on naturally gifted noise makers like Houndog Taylor who only knew how to play in the key of E. The important th...
