Here's my 6140

Baldwin era. 6 pedals - one knee. Rack & barrel. Got it for $600 on eBay a year or so ago, re-chromed the legs, polished all the metal parts, disassembled. cleaned and set it up with help from Ricky. I love it. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix/5141_P2160131_1.jpg http://bb.steelguitarforum...

Ihave what I believe to be a 6139 S-10, but it is Baldwin-Era (although it doesn't say Baldwin). It has the Rack & Barrel system. It was probably originally a 3/1 set up but has a 6/1 configuration.

Once I got it set up with Ricky's help, it plays well and seems to stay in tune, too.

Ricky Davis has been helping me restore an old S10 Professional with the barrel and basket mechanism and says that it will only work right with a wound 6th (i.e.: stay in tune). I have no opinion on this myself but Ricky is a pretty savvy guy, IMHO.

I more or less played it on keyboards in my band, but now that I have an old Sho-Bud, I want to learn it on steel. There are really only a couple of licks that sort of define the song.

Independence Day - Martina McBride

Does anyone have tabs for this or know where they can be gotten?

Older Sho-Bud Setup Questions

I am new to PSG and have a Baldwin era 6139 with the "barrell & basket" mechanism as opposed to bell cranks. I bought Bobbe's All Pull Maintenance video which is great, except that it doesn't address what to do with barrels and collars. It appears that, despite the fact that the finger...

I'm pretty sure mine's a 6139, but I thought the Baldwins had the Baldwin name on the right front. I downloaded some ShoBud manuals off the Carter site but they are for the bell crank undercarriage with the nylon tuners and not the barrel/hex tuners. I guess I can figure it out with the help of Bobb...

OK. Now I understand. It sure would be great if PDFs of some of the original manuals / documents were avaliable. Sounds like a market opportunity. Thanks for all your help. It looks like replacing 3 pedals with KLs is pretty straightforward. Or, of course, I could just add the KLs and keep the pedal...

Ricky - Thanks! I originally thought it might be a Crossover because of the 6/1 configuration, but, according to the history, the Crossovers all had the basket mechanism which mine doesn't. It does have the coil splitter and Vol/Tone pots (which need to be cleaned). Would it make sense to replace 3 ...

Newbie Sho-Bud Help

I have been trying to identify this Bud that I bought off Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7344274797 It looks sort of like a Pro 1 or Professional but it has 6 P/1K configuration. It has the hex tuners through the end plate. It's in great shape and sounds wonderful but n...
