Here's more info on the heat shrink idea. I have been doing this for years with great success - the picks stay on, and they feel much more comfortable. Those Acri picks do look interesting though.

A miked speaker and a DI will often sound very different. I would say if you've spent the time and energy to create a rig that you love the sound of, mike the speaker.
