I heard one of my old favorites on the radio yesterday which I had forgotten about. The song is "The Sweetest thing I've Ever Known" by Juice Newton. This song would have to be beautiful as a steel instrumental

Gary Stewart was another one who used a lot of heavy vibrato, usually at the end of each vocal line.

Here is a theory that would blow even Einstein's mind. I was introduced to the subject of fractals while taking a course years ago. What the instructor said was that everything follows a pattern and can be mathematically described. Then I got to thinking. The earth and other planets revolve around t...

Crook & Chase

Tonight at 8pm central time on RFD tv is the Crook & Chase show. Gene Watson is one of the guest performers tonight. I watched last week's show and was wondering who the house band's steeler is. I don't know who he is, but he plays a beautiful shiny red MSA. Just thought I would give a "hea...

I have often wondered if having a "sticky" message in the steel player's section with the names of gone but not forgotten players would be beneficial. The message might list their name, birth date, and date of death. This would be like a memorial to them. It probably would need to be just ...

Looking for "anglers" tab

I heard a song by Dave Hartley on steel radio a while back and I believe the title of it was Anglers. Does anyone have the tab for this? It sounds like a great blocking exercise or warmup tune.

I have my first name on my steel. In the early
1990's my house was burglarized. They took most of my electronics, but the steel was untouched. I don't know if it was the name painted on it or if it was the weight (it is a fender 2000).

I was doing my once a decade house cleaning and ran across the December, 1992 issue of "The Pedal Rod" from Jeffran College. On page 2 there is a short article from Jeff Newman about tuning up 2 1/2 Hertz above 440. Quote " ..... the numbers will put your guitar in tune with itself, b...
