Dan, I agree totally. There are many other good players, but Orville has a signature style and feel that just shines. Experiencing his playing live is nothing short of amazing in my books. He is without a doubt my favorite reso player.

I'd say some nice things too, but you guys covered it pretty well. His singing sends chills down your spine. When OJ lets loose, you stop and listen. I recommend listening to his 'Blueprint For the Blues', and 'Freehand' cd's also.

Rick, wow, that's very cool! As a fan of all genres, including heavy rock (GASP!), I gotta say that this is both joyous & unexpected! Scott indeed sang for Stone Temple Pilots, and now sings for Velvet Revolver, which consists of the musicians from Guns N' Roses. Aside from his constant battle w...

Further to George's idea, If you've switched from a different brand, perhaps the string slots are drastically different in size as to cause problems, and your saddle should be re-filed. Also, how acidic is your sweat? I have a friend who plays my reso's, and his sweat is so bad, he kills a set in ju...

...Actually I disagree with it being the EASIEST way, aside from accesibility in acquiring an instrument. As I child I had a ukelele kickin' around. I would slap on the uke & cowboy hat that fell halfway down my face and try to be Garth Brooks. Looking back I remember I did hold it lefty. It did...

Orville, as much as I both enjoy & admire your wisdom, I'm gonna have to disagree with the whole 'two hands' thing. Can you say TONY MELENDEZ??!! This is where I would have inserted a picture, however my limitations on the dumbputer are now apparent. I guess you'll just have to 'google' him...an...

Yes, I am a misfit too, however I actually play all of my instruments lefty (and most of my instruments are lefty). Luckily I build instruments, and would just make myself whatever I wanted, unless I happened across something I liked. The most interesting piece I have is a 60's era Fender pedal stee...

Thanks for your input guys. Stew-Mac & LMII were the first places I visited. LMII only sells straight .063" wide MOP in one inch lengths - too short. I though Stew-Mac said something similar on their site, however I just looked again and it didn't specify. I'll have to enquire. The Allen Gu...

Builders - Pearl Fret Slots

Hi Everyone, It's great to finally join this wonderful forum. Just got my password today (Thanks Bob). I'm starting off by posting a question to the builders out there. I am building a new neck to replace a pooched one on a 1927 National Tricone. The 'pooched' neck is not the original, BTW. Actually...
