hi all Two questions: 1) how many pedal / levers thw WBS student has ? The photo do not show any pedal; isn'it ? 2) how "much" the WBS Student is, technically better than a Carter Starter ? I ask because many people talk about the Carter Starter as a very bad instrument; also in comparison...

entry level pedal steel (from ITALY)

Hi all

I'm looking for a (used) pedal steel guitar, entry level (because low budget), 10 strings will be sufficients.

I'm from Italy, so I look for a most near dealer in Europe to minimize (shipping) costs.

thanks

Hi Stu, "Glissando guitar" as used and christened by Daevid Allen means cranking up the amp, adding reverb and rubbing the strings with a slide without picking. The friction causes a soft drone. The effect is wholly unlike anything associated with normal slide guitar playing." i quote...

One of Mr. Allen's cohorts is Steve Hillage, a brilliant and inventive guitarist. Steve also played glissando guitar with surgical steel rods as the bow. Fascinating stuff. Hi Loren yes I know about Steve; it seem that the idea of bow strings with a piece of metal come from "conversations"...

indeed e-bow is not an "effect"; is a different way to make strings vibrate (in alternative to pick for example); my piece "Waves of Wanderer" is realized using e-bow and pick on a lap-steel guitar:

There used to be an E-bow that was designed for steel guitar. Is it still available? no, as far as I know. to contact builder: http://www.ebow.com/ btw, it come in my mind a possible useful info: the alternative to e-bow could be the sustainiac system http://www.sustainiac.com/ in that case all the...

Re: E-Bow,s

Would like some informat :?: ion on the E-Bows. Is the regular e-bow or the e-bow plus best for steel guitar? Thanks J. Dean as far as I know e-bow is nowadays sold only in the "plus" version: so you have a switch where you can chose the "standard mode" or the "harmonic&quo...

Re: Seymour Duncan Hotrails

Thanks Ulf! OK, I decided for that Lil Killer, the 15k version (Hot) ... I do not understand exactly the difference in sound among three models; probably the "hot" ghave a more powerful signal ... considering I'd use the lap-steel guitar mainly for "solo" notes. You probably shou...

Thanks guys, I had a DD-3 a while back and liked the sound so I got this DD-7. To be honest I have not even had a chance to try it yet as I am trying to get a steel finished for a friend. I just thought some one might have a few numbers for the different settings. This DD-7 is a new product so I do...

The mini-humbuckers I think are the best solution. Not only do you lose the noise, but they have more of a midrange growl that sounds great for lap steel. The "noiseless" single-coils - Lace Sensors and stuff like the newer Fender "noiseless" line - have one drawback if you like...

Hi John yes, I considereed the minihumbacking (as Duncan Hotrails you suggest) as an option. [OT] I play "my" type of music ... a sort of ambient music, probably far from "stereotypes" of this sort; anyway there are more than 4 hours of my music available for free in my website: ...

you are probably right ... but what do you mean with "two quarters from the low strings" ? Quarters----25 cent pieces, US currency ($.25) http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix0808/753_quarters004_1.jpg Translation---2 quarters = approximately 3 mm. OK! thanks for translation-by-image ;-)

It's the same p-ups but the website is a bit confusing. Check the model# and compare to the sets. They have better, or at least more detailed description in the "set" department than in the "singles". The pics do however show four-lead humbuckers. If you wanna be 250% certain yo...
