Re: Question For Itune Users

I install my tracks on itunes to practice with. The "recently added" list is a mile long and I'v found no way to delete that list once its no longer needed, am I missing something,??? Are you talking about the Playlist (rather, "smart playlist") that is in the Sidebar by default...

Re: Anyone use this for Mac

Anecdotally, I have several friends/colleagues who use Sophos and are fans. I can't speak first-hand... haven't had any A/V on my Macs since... wow... 2002 maybe?

numbering depends on scheme

well, if I were writing out changes using numbers I would do a few things 1. Use Roman Numerals for the scale interval of the root 2. Make those Roman Numerals upper/lower case for major/minor 3. Apply flats/sharps before the numeral (so it doesn't confuse the actual chord quality) So: G - Em - Am -...

...patch nearly 90 vulnerabilities in Mac OS X, Safari, and third-party applications. Most of those are updates to the Unix tools and apps in the underlying OS structure (cups, emacs, X11, a boatload for ClamAV). I like reading those details and every one says "...arbitrary execution of code.....

take a dominant 7 w: 1357 (root, third, fifth & flatted or minor 7)& lower any one of those tones 1 half step & you'll have a diminished chord CrowBear are you sure about this? Seems like you get "variations on a theme"... some have the requisite flat third and flat fifth to g...

My attitude is this: whenever possible, an application should be written in portable language with a minimum of OS-specific hooks. Web-based applications that are written in PHP (like the Forum here) run on any web server, regardless of OS. The Forum server is a Mac, but it could easily be moved to...

Oh and one that can run Mac OSX, being that Mac OSX can run Windows. That's not really true. The new Intel Mac hardware can run Windows instead of OS X, or you can run Windows in a virtual machine via Parallels Desktop (which is not an Apple program). In neither case is OS X actually running Window...

I can do essentially anything I want on a Mac, or in Windows, or with some flavor of Linux.... but it all comes down to what really matters:

I use a MacBook Pro because it looks so darned cool.

wash it yourself...

Depending on what kind of laptop it is you may be able to remove the keyboard easily. Sometimes the bezel pops off and perhaps there are some screws through the back holding it in, then there is usually a plastic connector that slides over releasing the ribbon cable. Do a quick search online like &q...

Log & Capture

Depending on how much footage you have you might want to look for software that allows "log & capture"... I'm just learning about it but here goes. "Logging" is basically when you play your tape into the computer and mark in and out points for the good footage... you skip the...

Cool, I'll definitely have to give myth a try once I can get linux to play nice with my TV. I guess I'm gonna have to figure out the refresh rates to get that going. Man, the PC-to-TV thing was a huge headache. When you get closer give me a shout and we can take this via email and maybe i can save ...

It's CrossOver Linux, at http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxoffice/ I just installed the CrossOver for Macintosh product and it runs Office apps (installed from the Office CD, so yes, Publisher is there... haven't tried it yet). The nice thing is Outlook seems to behave nicely with my corporate ...

NV-112 "pedal loop" vs. Hilton-style pedal?

Hey all... I've recently acquired a Nashville 112 which I'm liking a whole lot. I'm using a Goodrich L-120 through the "volume pedal" loop (pre-EQ, tri-cord, etc...). I'm wondering about what happens, tone-wise, were I to switch to a Hilton (or other pot-less pedal)... do folks still go th...

Pod XT and leg bracket

Hey, the Pod is fun but I don't have the time to mess with it. I should really just practice pickin'! Line 6 Pod XT, great condition, manual, power adapter (sorry, no box). Comes with the Line 6 Pod "mic stand" mount - price lowered to $200 - I will pay for shipping inside the lower 48 sta...

Hey Steve,

What Brad said... go get http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_download.htm

The free version allows playback of wmv files from within QuickTime Player. It works quite well... better than things like mplayer or vlc or whatever. Very easy.

I say, in answer to your original question, you already know where to start and that is getting a sweet guitar right out of the gate. I've only been playing less than a year, but here's what i think: Get some basic "tricks" down... -basic chords (go ahead and related them to 6-string guita...
