Mike, thanks for your many good tips. I did carefully
wedge some rubberized material into the space but it is just a temporary fix. I will contact Jason and order a bobbin. Between your info and the old instructions on Rick A.'s site, I'll be OK.

Fender Deluxe(pro) 8, Trap. p/u vibration

Hello members. I just purchased a 1951 Deluxe 8 (walnut)with the trapazoid pickup. While playing acoustically, I hear a vibration from the pickup housing. Inside the housing there appears to be a wood block that surrounds the strings. It must have shrunken over the years, so the plucked strings make...

Dwight, would you call the tone of these laps bright and twangy, or a rounder, jazzy sound? Just trying to get an idea if these are good for country or blues gigs? thanks

Nice job Greg. That blend pot is a nice touch for in-between tones. Did you use any caps to tune your pickups, or is it just the pickups to the pot?

Hi Kelvin, I have to say, I didn't think it would, but after getting the idea from more than one Forum bro (whom had more years at it than me), I gave it a shot and it did help. It smooth'd out the tone quite a bit. But if you you don't like it, no harm done, just pull it out. If you do stuff it, us...

I also have a 37', and my volume pot is very tight. I just leave it as-is, cause I don't want to change anything. I did stuff the inside with terrycloth, which cut down on bad overtones. It now sings deep and clear! What a great guitar. It was my first lap steel. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10...

In this clip I have the Dynalap growling with tube OD, but it can do clean twang to! I can't recommend a bette...

WTB Yamaha XG Works, disk & manual

Looking for XG Works, a Yamaha, synth &
sequencer editing program. Now discontinued.
The last version, 3.0 or 3.07, which will
work with Windows XP. I am working on sequencer backing tracks and the editing
program is a needed part of the puzzle.
Sold for about $80.00 . Any reasonable price
is OK.

I would like to use the DR5 as a writing tool and backing band. There is an editing program that makes programing the DR5 easier thru MIDI connection to a computer. 1950's & 60's speakers with whizzer cone

Done anyone have a source for info on old
style speakers with whizzer cones? Such
as the EV SP12? Anyone ever trim the
whizzer off at the edge of the dust cap to
roll off some of the highest frequency? I have found you end up with a great speaker
to mate with a bright JBL.

Steve... Some later model Fenders had holes near the bias adjustment screw. This would be for + and - probes from your test meter, others, with just the set screw, you need a bias meter.
