I'm pretty sure this Hawaiian song is called Halona.
Gabby Pahinui and the Sons Of Hawaii recorded this song in a medley together with the song Waialae.

Aloha Doug,

Here's the best example I could find of this, and why we call it the violin FX.

https://youtu.be/PEUOu9d8tjk

Here's the Boo Wah FX as demonstrated by Rick Alexander. A foot volume pedal is used, and the bar is bounced off the strings.

Aloha Chuck,

Oops, yes, you're right.
Doing the swells with the VOLUME POT KNOB, but make sure too turn the tone control up. You want it on the bright side so the FX's will be more prominent.

The tuning I'm using is: E C# G# E D B
(high to low)

Aloha Dave, Hopefully, tourism will get back to normal next year and you'll be able return to the islands. :D Thanks Doug. We call that technique the violin FX. No volume pedal, just use the pinky on the tone control as you said. Good to hear from you. Aloha Kirk, Thanks Bruddah, hope you all safe t...

Aloha Nic, I did that on my recording I just did about a few weeks back. I just brushed the top strings 1 to 4 with my pinky, then go to the 1st string to hit the chimes. Takes a lot of practice to get it, and you'd have to have the tone set on the bright side to hear it. J & S used a lot of rev...

On The Beach At Waikiki - Jules Ah See

Jules Ah See, without a doubt, Hawaii's finest steel guitar player. Just finished recording this.
Song goes out to my good friend, Don Woods who is a giant fan of Jules.

Aloha Joe, I used some idea's from it, like the turnaround, and the move from the C chord to the A7th which I liked, but I kept many parts the way I played it at my gig. My co-workers laughed when they seen the title of this song because of the bad timing with the ongoing pandemic. One fourth of the...

Aloha Don,

Good to hear from you. Hope you are doing fine.
I miss the conventions with the old gang. Those were fun times. I getting to like the Magnatone sound more and more. What great steels they are. I'll have to look into that song for B11th. Thanks,

Doug Beaumier - I got the inspiration for this song from you after watching your version, but got around to recording it until now. I got a lot of time on my hands because of the virus situation.

Steve - yes, a great song indeed. I like it better than Sleep Walk.

Thanks everyone for listening. Nic - I re-did a few songs and deleted the old track, but, it was still there with silence as you have said. Strange that I have these double tracks when I'm accessing Soundcloud on my phone, but when I'm on the computer, the deleted song is gone. Maybe I'll delete eve...
