Russ Hicks does a mean Travis/Atkins fingerpicking style on the C6. As usual with Russ, it is very funky and cool.

That song was produced by Billy Sherrill, and on George's 1980 "comeback" album, "I Am What I Am." I was most certainly Ole Pete a-warblin' as only he could. According to musicians I know that played on that album, it took forever to make because of George's lifestyle problems at...

I am a relatively new convert to Jerry's music, but once I heard him play, I have been addicted to Jerry's playing.

Not listed, but Weldon on the Area Code 615 stuff(Grammy nominated!) and Russ Hicks with Barefoot Jerry come to mind as seminal steel playing of the era.

Wow! This brings back some memories. When I first moved to Gnashville, Jimmy was one of the first steelers I met (through Russ Hicks). I was fortunate enough to be asked to play on their first album together. The Big E was on bass....man, was I out of my league! Anyway, Jimmie will be missed in a bi...

WTB Inexpensive Lap Steel

I have taken a turn towards the Hawaiian side and need a 6-string to work on the techniques involved. I would like one that is not to "tinny" sounding, but I realize that at $250 or less I can't expect too much.

Whatcha got?

Gerald, I can tell you that Dan told me that he had been playing with Lee and Waddy (I think) since high school. As a matter of fact, Dan has a funny story about how they needed a bass player for their band to play the prom, so they heard about Leland and got him. But, the school principal made Lee ...
