Buzz in a Peavey Black Widow Speaker

After possessing the Session 400LTD new from about 1977, I suddenly started to hear buzzes, particularly when plucking the bass strings of the steel guitar. Once it was determined that the speaker was to blame, I removed the three Allen screws from the magnet on the back of the speaker to find three...

The only method I have of showing it is to send it via an email. I tried to convert it to a jpg or the likes but since it is an animation, it can't be done.

If you know of a method, let me know.

Pedal Steel Player Animated Cursor for Computer

If you'd like an animated cursor of a pedal steel guitar player (with installation instructions) to replace the "Working In Background" or "Busy" mouse cursors generated by Windows, email me at efay@porchlight.ca and I'll attach the files (less than 80kb) to a reply email. If any...

Scott, This is for a 12-string with no 9th D. Use your 9th string instead of the 8th string with E lever (tone lower on both 2nd and 8th strings) engaged. D lever is semitone lower. Combination pedals are tuneable splits (BG or AK). The first part of the 4th line may be a little awkward. This versio...

Carroll County Accident (P Wagoner) intro for steel

If there's no guitar player in the band, this should get the job done as long as you don't become the "accident". It's done for the key of C. I'm not sure of the original key. If someone insists on singing it in a different key, intro it in C then modulate to the singer's key. I found this...

14K Mind (G Watson) intro (steel sub for piano & guitar)

This arrangement is for the 12-string (no 9th D). You may want to change the position of the notes at fret 6 (line 2) to suit. I thought this might be the best for finger sequencing. Certainly, others are possible. Secure the timing from your audio. Fay http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix/4530_La...

Livin' On Love (A Jackson) intro (sub steel for fid & gu

This is a close copy of the fiddle and guitar parts. Use your audio of the song for timing.
Note: line 3, A7. I would describe the use of the pedals as "pedals of convenience" since it is played at fret 6.

To find the version of BiaB that was used, trial and error the version to the key of C and match up the chords. Nic: This problem could likely be solved mathematically. But, we don't have the string stretch coeficient, even 'though we could make an assumption concerning the diameters, and this problem deals with stretch. I don't have the answer for this. Trial and error is your easiest bet here. Others will a...

Thanks Richard. Another Example: It is quite advantageous to be able to rotate the bell crank very close to the 9 o'clock position for compensators such as you might have on the first string, F#.(At 9 o'clock, most of the rotational component is in the vertical direction which isn't moving the pull ...

You Belong To Me: Band-in-a-Box Version

I had the pleasure of hearing Al Brisco perform this tune a couple of years ago, and was impressed with his version of the Jo Stafford number. The following is a Band-in-a-Box version (You Belong to Me – Peewee King.MGU). I play it at about 80b/m tempo in C. E/2 = halfstop, Eb to D E = E to D (full ...

From the DIYCorner: Increasing B-Pedal Travel and a Problem

You are sitting at someone else's guitar and notice that the B-pedal has a relatively long, smooth feel while the one on your machine is short, jerky, and stiff. You want to match it with the feel of the A-pedal since the two are used together, constantly. Some guitars allow for minimal adjustments ...

From th DIY Corner: Adding Raises (or Lowers) to a Changer

Adding Raises (or Lowers) to a Changer Please read the suggestions under a recent submission by Ken Crisp. These solutions involve the manufacture or parts supplier. My discussion harbours around the do-it-yourselfer (the drill press and hacksaw crew) and the last-resort gang. Another guitar with th...

The Not Enough Changer Positions Solution

I agree with all responses. Obtaining the desired mix of 3x3 or 4x2 from the manufacturer is ideal. If not free, any charges would be minimal. The big headache is making the change on the changer. Unfortunately, for many guitars the above solution is not possible for one reason or another, age, manu...

The angling of the bell cranks is an attemp to make all pulls on the same cross shaft (pedal or lever) start at the same time. (Pulls all inherently stop at the same time.) All strings do not start their pulls at the same instant because of the varying string parameters such as material, diameter, e...

Blanton Bell Crank - Reply for Bent

If manufacturers applied the Blanton bell crank to their guitars, I could live with it since it overcomes the problem of trying to make pull rod starts, on the same shaft, all occur at the same time. The first attempt I saw to allow for this adjustment was on a Russ-ler (I think) guitar played by Je...

My house is always open to steel players. If you attended the Jeff Newman seminars held in London nearly 30 years ago, we may have already met. I'm about a mile from Highway 115. Three steel players periodically visit to jam in our basement. Many of the groups in which I've played have held their pr...

Cutting long pieces of Styrofoam: Sharp butcher knife along a 4 foot level as a strait edge. I would use the uncut surfaces as gluing surfaces since these would be much truer.
