Thanks for the replies and emails, guys. I'll keep all of you in mind and keep in touch when we get the rhythm section put together and have a game plan. From what I understand, Carco Clave is kind of big deal. I assume he wouldn't want to play with a band that doesn't have a steady gig and isn't ev...

Looking for Western Swing steel player in Nashville

A friend (bass player) and I (Fiddle) want to start a western swing/texas shuffle (Ray Price style) type band, and we're in need of a steel player who is trained in Western Swing and such. The original idea was to have an "all Texan" band, but since we don't know any steel players from Tex...

I've been in contact with Al over email, and he seems like a good guy. The sale on the guitar is pending, so I'll be sure to send a donation (or what little I can after getting my bank account out of the negative)

thanks again, guys!

Thanks for the replies, guys. It makes me much more comfortable knowing that this is a real person and not a scammer. Just being cautious here because I can't afford to be scammed at the moment.

Is this a scam email? How do I tell?

I just got an email, and it looks more normal than most of the scammers I get emails from when I list something, but it still looks a little suspicious. Here is the info for the email, and the message. I know there is someone here on this forum that can decipher all of this, but I can't remember who...

70's Mosrite Mark I Reissue

Sad to say, but I must sell my Mosrite to pay my rent and bills. Black Mosrite Mark I reissue, made by Firstman Japan in the 70's. I've had this guitar for a little over half a year and it is the best sounding guitar I've ever had. It's very versitile, also. It has a great tone for western swing. Th...

Who else uses Tom Morrell's tuning?

I've been using this tuning ever since I started playing steel last year. While playing with the Playboys, I would always listen to Tom closely, and decided I wanted to learn to play just like him (Or as close as I could get. The guy is untouchable, really). So one day I went over and mesured his gu...

Sort of off topic, but sort of on topic: Tom Morrell tells a story where he had some off time from a gig in California. He was looking for a place to buy shoes, and stopped to ask someone where he could get some. The shop owner he asked was a little oriental lady. She pointed to her right and yelled...

Imagine how many steels you could buy for that much! Probably as many as Bobbe Seymore, and then some.

WTB: Case for one neck steel

I need a case for my homemade lapsteel, but a normal size lapseel case won't work because it's as long as a regular pedal steel. So basically if you took one neck off an emmons, that's the size. Is there anything out there like this?

Anyone figured out how to play this yet? It's so wacky sounding that I can't figure out what he's doing or where to pick.

Has anyone attemped to learn it?
