I caught the show when he came thru LA a couple weeks back. I missed Robert Cray (I never really got him to be honest)......Clapton was good but I thought Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks were great! (especially Mr. Trucks....)

I'd say when playing records and cd's became an "art form", and clubs that used to hire live bands now hire "DJ's".....

Thanks for the input so far. I think the main reason I'm asking is that so many of those great players worked as sidemen and might not have had alot of output on there own. (And it's my luck that I'll pick up the "wrong" album or the one that was made to get out of there recording contract...

First time poster here...... My Steel teacher, John McClung, told me about this thread here..... I was fortunate enough to take lessons with Ted on a regular basis for the last few years. I have just been shocked since I found out last week. I make my living as a guitar teacher for the most part.......
