Highly versatile 2 channel amp w/ footswitch, effects loop, master volume, slave out w/level, extension speaker w/4-8 ohm switch. Good tone at bedroom volume but LOUD as all getout if and when you want it. Thi...

re: machining

My cheat for this metal work was to design it in CAD and take it to a shop with a CNC mill. :)

They are both curly Koa from a board I had sitting in my shop for about 20 years. The one with the pl...

Parts

I should have been more specific. Looking for mainly lapsteel parts, 6 and 8 string, including stripped down bodies if they are wood (not MOTS wrapped). Bodies from solid body electric guitars, necks, electronics, palm pedals, Hipshot Trilogy, bridges, tailpieces

Patti's tuning

She plays in A6 95% of the time. I set her Hipshot tailpiece for A6/ E13 but I can see it is in the A6 position

CruzTone

Just letting you know that CruzTone steels are still available. Also, Sylvan music in Santa Cruz has a 6 string and an 8 string, both with 2 Lollar/Aiello pickups in stock.

Michael, Thank you so much for your thoughtful and thorough review of the eight string CruzTone. As I said when I sent it out, this particular steel has some parts that are seconds, and this is one reason I'm willing to send it on the road. The headstock has a flaw in the decorative milling, the fin...

A light wiping of forehead oil onto the end of the small artist brush handle gives it just the right amount of "mold release" as it holds the tube inserts outward while the glue sets As usual, Denny has given a master class here, illustrated and narrated with detail, humor and technical c...

Does anyone have experience with neatly finishing a case interior with velvet? I like to know what glues have been used successfully and a procedure for getting the fabric to glue in neatly.

Hi James, Yeah, I was psyched to have the NAMM museum ask for a CruzTone to put in the show. The steel on display is my two pickup 6 string with the Rick Turner "Farrier's" p'up. This is built here in Santa Cruz using a modern pickup coil with magnets inside. It is mounted with chrome plat...

Hi Brad, That's great!!. I've got two testers in the bay area ahead of you. It looks like I'll be having Mark Eaton bring it to you after his test drive. After that I'll be looking to leapfrog it down the state. Then maybe it can circulate LA and San Diego areas for awhile. I'm trying to do the whol...

what's the idea behind the extra-wide fretboard? When I took on the project of designing the CruzTone, I wanted to make a instrument with world class beauty, and tone to match the most sought after vintage steels. I worked with Rick Turner, Jason Lollar, Rick Aiello, Mike Johnstone and Chas Smith b...
