I switched to Boogie amps about 5 years ago. I haven't found anything I like better since then.

My main steel amp is a EV loaded Boogie MKI. Like Bob said go for the 4 6L6s and a huge speaker. It also took a little tweaking time to get to the sweet spot and have a lot of clean overhead. Besides weighing a ton in the road case and the reverb being a little "transparent" it works well ...

I agree on the two amp thing. When possible, of if staging allows, I use two identical Boogie MKI reissues. I use the preamp on one amp out of the FX send to a Lex/dual parametric eq/mixer then into the fx returns on both amps. I use the mixer to run the Lex in parallel with the dry signal. I stack ...
