Hilton volume pedal for sale
I don't know why I didn't think of posting this here earlier: I have a live auction on ebay that will expire at 1:26 PST today (Jan. 27) selling a Hilton volume pedal: https://www.ebay.com/itm/293434974829. I purchased this new in October 2005, and most of its life has been spent in storage. It's no...

Zum serial numbers
Hey Paddy,
Thanks for your reply - very informative! I'm curious though - apparently this particular instrument I'm purchasing doesn't have a serial number stamped into the end plate. Did Bruce Zumsteg make any steels that didn't have serial numbers? Has anyone ever heard of counterfeit Zums?

Zum serial numbers?
Does anyone know if Zum steels reliably have serial numbers and if so are they always on the tuning key side end plate? I own a D-10 Hybrid (which I LOVE) and the serial number is stamped in this end plate. I'm purchasing an S-12 but there's no serial number, at least not on the inside of the end pl...

Indeed, John White is the owner and since I posted about it I learned that he posted about it before I did. It's a 1987 with four pedals and five knee levers, and a Tru-Tone single coil pickup wound to 19.5k. In general, if anyone can help us figure out what any 12 string E9 extended used, in good c...

opinions on the value of a used Zum S-12 in good shape?
Hi, I've become aware of a pedal steeler who has been diagnosed with a very serious degenerative illness who wants to sell his Zum S-12 both because he's become unable to play, and because he needs money for medical treatment. I haven't been keeping up with what an instrument like this would be wort...

pedal steel as checked baggage question
Occasionally I have to fly to gigs, checking my pedal steel as baggage. I currently play a Zum D-10 Hybrid that weighs 70lbs in its road case. It costs an arm and a leg to get it wherever it needs to go. I'm thinking about purchasing either an S-10 or possibly S-12 to use on gigs where I have to fly...

Any Evans owners in Walla Walla or thereabouts?
Hi, I'm going to be playing in Walla Walla, WA on the evening of October 30. I prefer playing through Evans amps and am wondering if there are any steelers in that area who would be amenable to renting their Evans amp for that one night. I'll be playing with a relatively quiet band, so there won't b...

Bruce Kaphan playing in Martinez, CA Saturday March 7
Hi, Sorry for the shameless self promotion, but last time I played a gig, a fellow steel player suggested that I should post here if I was playing out again. I'll be playing in Victor Krummenacher's band. Victor's music is Americana. I'll be playing pedal and lap steel. We'll be playing 2 sets at Ar...

fret marker dots for a Rickenbacker Model B6 lap steel?
Hi, I have what I believe is a 1948 Rickenbacker B6. A few of the white plastic fret marker dots are missing from the fretboard. My calipers indicate the dots are .146 inches in diameter. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to purchase either the dots themselves or rod stock for this mat...

Hey Skip, coming from one of the most talented (and fun to be around) people I've ever worked with, your words are humbling indeed; thank you! You remember the first day we worked together? I was at the console and you were at the piano and you innocently played the arpeggio (from bottom to top) b, ...

pedal steel and Weissenborn film score
A little shameless self-promotion here: for the past couple of years I've been writing and producing the score to filmmaker Judy Irving's (The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill) next film, Pelican Dreams. This all original score features my pedal steel and Weissenborn playing. If you'd like to hear ste...

Hi, Thanks to the wide reach of this forum, I've negotiated a deal with a forum member and am now waiting on a check in the mail. Assuming the check arrives and clears, this case is sold. If the deal falls through, I'll re-post to that effect. Thanks!

I should have made a time component clear
After posting this ad I realized that I should have put a time limit on accepting offers. I've now received one offer and as a result, I've asked the person who submitted that offer if they'd be amenable to me closing this offer as of the end of the day on Christmas. Assuming he approves of that, th...

like new D-10 case
When I purchased my Zum D-10 Hybrid new, it came in this case. I immediately had a road case built for the instrument and have essentially never used this case, so it's as good as new. Exterior dimensions: 35"L x 16"W x 7"H. Interior dimensions: bottom of steel compartment: 33.75"...

Hi Ron,
Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm not aware of what makes a "Crossover" a crossover. Could you please describe the copedent? Thanks!
