Song To Highlight Steel Guitar

A pastor friend of mine wants to do a song (possibly an instrumental) at church that highlights the steel guitar. It doesn't even have to be a gospel song necessarily.

Any suggestions?

The "talking steel" stuff kind of weirds me out, but Pete's playing on classic albums such as George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" is fantastic. This album led me from my love of rock to my love of country. The songs just wouldn't have had that country soulfulness without Pet...

Terry, A friend of mine recently bought a Fishman Pro-Eq Platinum direct box. He runs straight into the P.A. with it and it sounds great. It has an EQ on it and a compression circuit with a knob to adjust the amount of compression. The compression really helps take off some of the harsh edges off of...

John,

I sent you an e-mail a while ago. We have a jam event coming up the evening of July 9th in Little Rock that should be a good time. It would give you an opportunity to sit in with lots of different musicians.

John, I wish I was closer to Newark. I would enjoy getting together with you. I play guitar, but I recently purchased a pedal steel and I'm trying to learn it. I have been able to find quite a few people to play with here in Little Rock, but I'll bet it is difficult up in Newark. You might try findi...

I understand what Ed is saying, but IMHO there is so much more to buy than just the steel guitar. I just started playing a month ago and I have probably spent $400 on accessories since then. Between the volume pedal, strings, specialty CD's, instructional material, etc. there is a lot of merchandise...

Carl, It sure sounds like a memory issue. That would affect the reponse time on both the pointer and the sound. It would be interesting to look at your task manager screen when you start having these problems and see if you are low on available memory in the Performance tab. Also, you may be able to...

Volume Pedals

Does anyone have suggestions on what kind of volume pedal to use with steel guitar? I have an old Morley, but it's kind of tall which is a problem with the knee levers.

Thanks,

You know, I'm getting a little off subject here, but since Charles Manson is supposed to be getting out of prison soon, don't you think he would make a great contestant on Survivor?

Steel Guitar For Beginner

I've been playing guitar about 25 years and recently decided I want to learn steel. I know very little about steel guitars, but I met a gentleman at a Steel Guitar event this past weekend who is wanting to sell a GFI D10 with 9 pedals and 8 knee levers, standard Emmons setup and a Franklin Pedal. He...
