Oh my god, here we go again. It doesn´t matter which kind of musical style people talk about, they always have to rate players and styles. This one is better than that one, nobody can play as good as .....(put the name of your favourite player in here)and so on. Well, music is not about technical ab...

I have a Champ and it looks the same. I also have a champion. I like both guitars and I payed 500 $ for the champion and 650 for the champ, so I guess your price is OK!
Have fun....

Opinions on Friends of Dean Martinez?

What do you think of Bill Elm and his band Friends of Dean martinez? I Like it. Cool steel sounds (echoplex and a lot of distortion) and quite a lot of experimental stuff going on.

Hi Dave, basically non pedal, but I like old fashioned pedal steel, too. I play two Fender 6 string steels, a champ and a champion, so I´m looking for inspiration, classic songs and licks. And thanx to all the other guys, I have to talk to my bank, if they can give me a loan to buy all these CDs.......

Minor Keys

Can you name any steel sogs in minor keys? I find it more difficult to play in minor keys than major keys or blues (same as on slide guitar). What do you think?

Right Hand Technique

I wonder, if I´m the only guy, who plays with a flatpick and two fingers (no fingerpicks). Are there any other guys, who play that way and what do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of that style?

Which kind of chords do you use?

Hi, I wonder which kind of chords you play on a steel guitar. I find it difficult to use more than 3 notes in a voicing (except the different harmonic possibilities for the C6 chord). So, which kind of chords do you play? 2 notes, 3 notes voicings, do you use a lot of slants for chords (I´m still fi...

What are you playing through?

Hi, I wonder which kind of amps and effects you use for steel. At the moment I play over a Fender BF Deluxe and an old tube reverb plus an Echoplex EP1. What are you using?

Ok, this stuff is helpful. I just ordered your book, Andi. Hope it helps!
Anyway, is there any printed material out there? What about the Cindy Cashdollar videos, are they more technical or lick orientated?
And can you guys recommend some classic songs one should learn?

Encyclopedia of Licks

Hi, I´m new to the forum. I´m a professional guitarist(Rock, Blues, Surf, Country) and I started playing lapsteel last year, after hearing Gary Brandin from the Vanduras. I worked through the Basic C6 book from Scotty and bought some more books from him and also the steel guitar course from Jerry Bi...
