Blue Mics

I love my Blue Baby Bottle ($400 street), and have used the Blue dragonfly with mmassive results. Also the Rode N2-A is awsome. In a blind shootout with a Neuman U87 the Rode was the hands down winner with warmth and clairity in spades. You won't go wrong with either of these LDCs. And a couple of 5...

If you're lucky enough to find one (I think I bought the very last one available!!) Brad Sarno's "Dirt Box" is the absolute bomb-digity! Steel, Tele, Les Paul, bass, violin, it sounds amazing on everthing I've put through it. Or, the Chandler "Blue Tube" with a 12AU7 upgrade rock...

Blue Tube preamp

Howdy folks, I have an old Blue Tube 903 that I have replaced the 12AX7 with an old Philips 12AU7. And for the record I LOVE it! http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix/4095_BlueTube903_1.jpg Here on the Forum I have read references to the Blue Tube w/ Steel Mod. Are these references to the 903? Or t...

Well, since you put it like that I'm in. I'm gamy. I'll bring my vintage Teisco "Chess King" banjo and some home made BBQ sauce. I've got some good recipes for the lovely opossum but I ain't gonna dress 'em. Someone else is gonna have to clean those greasy varmints. I've got no hound dog, ...

Personally, I don't find the banjo half as irritating as unduly rude posts full of misspelled words typed all in caps.

Great thread! Conceptually, yes. It makes complete sense. Mechanically, no. I don't have a clue. I would love to find a tutorial, of sorts, to help me understand the intricacies inherent to this beast. If I understood more of the actual inner workings I might not be so hesitant to start replacing th...

I really enjoy the tones I get out of my old red Electro from my '64 Ampeg Gemini I. It's got a 12" Jensen Concert speaker in it and some of the deepest reverb (gotta have that) I've ever heard. It just sings. Of course I plug into the accordian input. Or there's the Rick Johnson custom cabinet...

I highly recomend the K&K "Golden Bullet" for this type of aplication. http://www.kksound.com/goldenbullet.html
I just added one to my bull fiddle.
For the price they can't be beat.
Just be careful where you stand in relation to your amp/monitor.

Your concept for combining the pc utilities into a "next generation" psg isn't that far fetched. My practice setup consists of: my Sho~Bud LDG > volume pedel > M-Audio mobil pre (not ideal but very accessable) > IBM thinkpad running Native Instruments Guitar Rig> headphones or powered moni...

Thanks for all of your replies. But I still can't connect. I believe my problem is that I'm trying to listen while at work. And our network is behind a hoss firewall. Apparently the port that the old STEEL RADIO server used was accessible to me but the new server (port 8600) is locked down tight. My...

Question for Joey Ace

Hey there Joey, I was just perusing you mighty fine website and I just gotta know, where did you find a bracket to hold that mini keyboard (looks like one of those M-Audio jobbers, right?)in playing position? How does it work for you? (i.e. is it pretty stable/convienant?) And where would an Arkie l...

"ERROR CONNECTING TO HOST"
"SERVER TIMED OUT"

AAARGH!
So their server is NOT down?
And everybody else can hear the sweet sounds of the steel guitar but me?!?!?!
This is getting frustrating.

What's going on there? HTTP://206.222.58.30:8000 used to get me in to hear all the hits, but now...... bupkis.
Can someone PLEASE guide me towards the tunes?
Thanks.

Fender 400 suggestions

I have a good friend, and mentor, who was gifted an old Fender 400. 8 string, 4 pedal. This fella has played six string C6 (or some variant) lap steel for MANY years. He has asked me to help him set up this Fender. And has asked me for tuning/copedant suggestions. I immediately thought of Al Marcus'...

WTB: Carter Sacred Steel Bar

I am looking to buy a Carter Sacred Steel Bar.
Preferably 12 string but I'd take a 10 string version. 2 or 3 groove.
I'm sure someone bought one and can't wait to get rid of it.
