Sierra "Crossover"

I have a copy of Steel Guitarist Magazine dated May 1980 in which the inside front cover consists of an advertisement for a Sierra 12 or 14 string guitar with a "Change-Lok" system for switching between E9th and B6th. Has anyone on the forum owned one of these guitars or played one? I woul...

I have a Pro 1 that I bought new in, I believe, 1973, has two hole pullers with brass rollers for tuning. Call me a fool, but how does one tune the shown Pro1 with two hole pullers and no Brass tuners?

Fender Triple Neck

Hello to all, this is my first posting on this forum as I normally follow the pedal steel forum, but today I come with a request for help. On thanksgiving day I was introduced to an elderly lady who sought me out because she heard that I play pedal steel. She owns a Fender triple neck 8 string non p...

The numbered markings appear to be centimeters and the smallest markings millimeters. Definately some kind of laboratory testing device.

What model Fender did Al Perkins play on the first Manassas album? I have yet to hear a sweeter sound than tunes like "Hide it so Deep" and "Falling Eagle".

pickup wiring

Can someone tell me whether or not polarity is an issue when wiring a pickup? I've installed a highly regarded pickup on my ProI and it just doesn't sound right. Many thanks,

Thanks for the info Ricky, your knowledge of Shobud history is encylopedic. Now if I could figure why is sounds so bad. I played about 25 years ago, never was very good, but the steel had a fantastic sound. I pulled it out a few months ago, put a Trutone on it, Jagwire Lloyd Green strings and a used...

Ricky, your comments may be the answer to my problem. Several months ago I decided to pull my 73 Pro I out of the attic and try to play steel again, after many years. The pickup was shot so I installed a new Jerry Wallace Truetone and Jagwire Lloyd Green strings, bought an old Nashville 400, set it ...

Al Perkins

Does anyone have tablature for any of the tunes that Al Perkins played on the first Manassas album? The licks were so sweet and the tone on that Fender was out of sight.

This was addresed previously on the Forum and someone mentioned self-adhesive felt pads. I found sheets of small felt circles at Lowe's and applied them everywhere metal meets metal or wood and it did wonders for my old Pro1. They must be the very thin ones, too thick and you have to push the pedals...

half stops and 3&4 levers

Hi, can anyone tell me who makes half stop kits suitable for my ancient Shobud pro I? For use on 2nd string E9.

Also I am planning to add knee levers 3 and 4. I have the original Shobud setup, does anyone have other suggestions?

Many thanks to a great bunch of Guys and Gals

Nashville 400 amp

I recently purchased a used peavey Nashville 400 amp. Can anyone suggest suitable settings for a Shobud Pro I with a Jerry Wallace Trutone pickup? If I adjust the post gain knob above the lowest possible setting it hums something awful.

Hum

I recently purchased, through the forum, a used Peavey Nashville 400 amp, and if I set the post gain knob above the most minimal setting horrendous hum results. Could this be a bad potentiometer, and if so, where can I find one with the correct 3 prong orientation?

Who built this PSG?

Back in the early seventies I saw a used, very old looking, pedal steel in a music store in Toronto. I don't remember how many strings it had but the 5 pedals were strange in that, instead of the pedal bar being mounted on the front legs it was mounted on the front and rear left legs, with the pedal...
