Hello TB. That may be very possible to do but a very bad idea. You will have ruined a very good entry level steel and end up with something that is just not right. You should sell the entry level GFI on E-BAY and use the money toward a new GFI ultra. Gene and Bob at GFI make a great steel that they ...

Bob, The Jerry Wallace trutone pickups are a match made in heaven at 18k on a Carter steel. Try setting the height of the PU. about two and one half quarters, below the strings. Also using a amplifier that is made for the steel, makes a big difference. I have always have preferred a tube type amp, b...

Hello Ken, I also have a Carter and have tried some George L and Wallace true tone. I find that the recomendations of John Fabian to be spot on as far as a good choice, The true prize winner for me is the wallace trutone wound to about 18.5k, this pickup has a fantastic full sound great lows and can...

Nothing like the real thing. After 45 years of playing Hammond B-3 I can tell you there is something about that sound that is imposible to duplicate. I have not been playing steel for a long time but have become totally hoohed on the pedal steel. It is fantastic what kind of sound you get when you p...

The GFI is a great guitar, I am a new steel player and have not been cast in stone yet, as far as my opinions. I had a GFI-SD-10 that I just sold to my steel guiter teacher, this was truly a great steel. It stayed in tune and sounded great, I should of had my head examined for selling it but Having t...

I think that the S-10 has some very good things to offer, the weight works out better when you are using the steel in several places. I have played the Carter D-10 and the S-10 model. One great feature about the Carter S-10 is that is built as a single neck and not as a double with one neck missing....
