Long before I started playing pedal steel I saw Pudgy with Ernest Tubb in Concord. Fun stage presents. Later frequented the store for years. Inspirational kind of personality. Condolences to his family.

These kind of stories can be fun. I think that warehouse was shared with Leo Fender. Piles of 52 Tele's in there. I had lunch with Jimmy at his favorite rib spot shortly before he passed. His "warehouse" was the store. He did have lots and lots of instruments. All that was left of the Amp ...

Perhaps hydraulic cylinders would over come the problems with electric servos. Should handle the pull pressures and would be proportional. Could use a remote pump/resevoir. Joy stick control gate.

Bad news but thank you for posting this Richard. Too easy to forget people that had positive influences in your life. I played with Tom many times along with Bobby Thompson. Bobby is facing his own struggles right now. Tom did a nice job and always gave people their money's worth. A gentleman and go...

Brad: Thanks for the reply. I screwed up though. The track she wants lap on is "Give a Little Love" by the Judds. I am old, what can I say. If you wouldn't mind give that one a listen and tell me what you think.

Thank you Brad,

Tuning used for "Give a Little Love""

Can someone tell me what tuning is used on the lap steel for this tune by the Judd's. I have been asked to do some tracks for a gal doing a CD project. Mostly standard but need a little lap on this puppy. Sounded like a G dobro tuning to me but wasn't sure.

Thanks for the help.

Mikey my friend. I am so very sorry for your loss. I know that great loving memories will slowly replace the terrible sorrow you feel today. Grieve for your Mom. I am sure she is smiling down on you.

I love you Mikey.

A.J. I have to tell you that I was very surprised how good the output and tone of the stock pickup is in this rig. It has to be over 50 yrs old. The Supro is in pretty good shape. Has some scratches on the stenciled finger board that appear to be from picks. Other than that she is pretty nice (once ...

New old Supro in the house

Just came into possession of an old 6 string Supro lap. I am first and foremost a standard player. About 52 years. I have some experience with Dobro using a G tuning and of course E9 & C6th pedal. What is my preferred tuning for this little lap steel? My preference is traditional country. Along ...

Chuck, I have the same problem. You need a larger bulge in you Levi's. I suggest an Idaho Russet Potato. Place it in your right rear pocket for maximum benefit.

You guys are making me feel stupid. "Moon" had an early self fashioned instrument that featured lawn mower parts and bellcranks from a carburator. Tom's early ZB's were not perfect examples of engineering principles. Our instruments are created to give voice to our talents. If they do that...

I suggest you seek out the advice of our Forum brother Ken Fox. He has been working on many of the different brands for years and also builds his own. If that doesn't appeal to you get a Webb.
