a)Should all 6 strings be parallel from nut to bridge?
b)What should the string height be from fret board?

Many thanks everybody for replying to my topic. I'm surprised that aluminium seems to be the most popular for nut & bridge material. I play banjo & guitar and almost all banjo/guitar nuts are made of bone (or synthetic material similar) & bridges made of wood/metal---to my knowledge neve...

Does anybody know where I can obtain Kayton Roberts instrumental recordings--the one's he did for'Stoneway Records' & one on tha 'Maple' lable?
Or has anybody the recordings?

I have an 8 string lap steel. The nut appears to be aluminium, so does the bridge. Aluminium being a poor conductor of sound. Would changing both to bone or brass enhance the sound, even though it is an electric instrument? What material are your lap (or pedal) steels made from?

Does the material ---(bone/aluminium /brass/ wood etc.)--- used for the nut/bridge of a lap steel have any effect on tone? Have any members preferences? experienced differences?

Lap Steel?

Would it be good advise to buy a really good Reverb unit as a seperate item?---and then think about effects pedals later. Am i correct in thinking that the Reverb unit would be the No 1 item to get in the effects department?

Mark---I was thinking of the floor type units. Possibly the Boss ME-20 which contains a number of effects.No reverb though but tremolo---is reverb the same thing as tremolo?

I'm about to buy some sort of reverb/echo and maybe effect(s)units.Advise wanted on what makes/models work best on lap steel---what have you tried? Pleased with the results? Look forward to your experiences with them.(Before I spend the ££££'s!)
