This is tragic news. Stu was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and an awesome musician. I met him at one of the Phoenix steel guitar shows. He was super inquisitive and wanted to know about the music I was into, equipment, etc. He’d say, oh you like that? Then let me introduce you to this g...

Hey Richard, here in Missoula we also have David Horgan and Aaron Jennings. Also Dave Martens is up on the Highline. The Livingston/Bozeman area always has a few good steel players around. Lots of straight Steelers are always hiding out in our excellent bluegrass scene. I still need to make it out t...

Hey, John. I wrote this up about the SKB case, I have flown a few time with it, but maybe someone who flies more can chime in on durability.

Flocking

Ricky, do you have a preferred product for texturing/flocking the bottom of the guitars you work on? I have an older, hard used Bud that needs some love.

Nic, it’s a deep well you are tapping into here! It really depends on the type of country music you want to play. A modern guitar is not necessary. You mention jazz and Hawaiian so I imagine you have a decent foundational understanding understanding of theory. There’s lots of early country music...

Carter Starter knee lever stop

I have a friend that has a Carter Starter and the RNR has no stop on it. I suggested a Sho~Bud style angle bracket with allen bolt and locknut to provide a stop for the bell crank. I'm assuming the top of that guitar is thick enough and strong enough to hold that bracket with wood screws. Anyone kno...

Here’s a recording that I used it on. You can definitely hear the grit in there. Don’t have any A/B comparisons but this give a bit of the idea, I was using a Williams through a Princeton here. https://youtu.be/d7oufcBMaOM

When I use mine it is for effect only, I'm not using it to compensate for impact of the passive pedal, so it goes after the volume pedal. That way i can control the grit as well.

Hey Charlie, I had a project a number of years ago where I used a Klon pretty regularly with a Goodrich. I bought mine before prices went through the roof. I used it for a show last year on a tune that needed some grit, and man, it really does have a brilliant midrange and was a refreshing contrast ...

Hey Charlie, I have had a Williams 600 for several years and it is still full of inspiring sounds for me. I have played a Mullen Precision and they are pretty impressive guitar mechanically. Everything worked so smoothly that it was a little disarming. I am sure you can set it up to give whatever fe...

That guitar player was Tommy Connell. He’s a fantastic guitarist. Tommy has played on several of Jon’s steel guitar albums.

That was a cool set and one the highlights for me that year! You sounded great, Bill.
