Yep, "Boenzee Cryque" was one Denver band featuring (the young) Rusty Young, which hit Grand Junction, Colorado. That night he patched into leslies that a mutual friend had onstage for his B3, and 'tore us up'. It was probably 1968. My keyboard friend was experimenting too, pounding his Fe...

David, John, & Jon: By tweaking the "bipic" tips, I bet the string pair spacing of mandolins can be accommodated, but I've not heard of anyone that has tried them for mandolin. I've felt that the bipick should be shaped so that the tips contact the strings as if you had Howard Hughes' ...

Yes I do, but no site to post so the they may appear here. If, and when, HowardR returns from the Dallas Steel Show, maybe I can impose on his skills again to get them up on the SGF.

I'm all smilie faced, for two reasons: I've already met wonderful folks as a new member, and it just might be possible that I'm able to help some new friends in their satisfaction and enjoyment of their music. I can only imagine that big sound coming from your twelve string Travis! And, now there ar...

When I turned 40 there was a half moon looking just like a yellow bowl floating above the ocean, and I thought, "Don't worry man about not getting my steel set up yet, 'cause jus' look at all those guys that play good steel, THEY'RE gray hairs!" I knew it was going to take time, just like ...

My God, 'R' rated Ebay! That was gory, it reminded me of the retraction cadavers at my 2nd year med anatomy class. I hope someone signed the organ donor card, this one's DOA. But, I could use the bezel and jack assembly for my patient in California.

Thank you Carl and to all the SFG members.

I can't believe it! I now have wiring diagrams for my Fender V/T Pedal and my Stringmaster that I never even hoped to see, and, I'm plugging my pedal in where it belongs. It's good to be in the (effects)loop.

Travis/John: Thanks for your remarks. Bipicks have huge sound on Dobro, and might mean a new term for Banjo: Sledge-Hammer. With Lap/Hawaiian amp work, flat compression rakes, straight up picks, or upward plucks produce different voices due to the PART of the pick TIP that leaves the string. That ch...

My thanks to SGF and C. Dixon for the Fender V/T Pedal wiring information. I've got one, and a '58 Q8 Fender Stringmaster with dual pickups (humbucker-type?) to consider. My last rebuild at 250K never seemed right. I need to go to 500K pots if I understand the information correctly. Could a member p...

HowardR: Saw your photo post concerning the Ebay 'Sting'-Master. I had no idea I was e-mailing my finger pick 'pic' to a distinguished person such as yourself, and I'm grateful that a man in your position has offered to help me post. Thank you in advance for your time sir, and, you'll find the 87 me...

HowardR, thank you in advance for your assistance. I'm charging up the digital! As a new member, I want to say that it is great to feel so welcome. 2/13 edit: I need to charge my brain - Can't get a 137 meg JPEG to e-mail to you. IPS protocol problem. How did I get this far in life without these ski...

Thanks Travis. I'll post 'Pick' pic's as soon as I perfect the photo procedure (Never have done it, eh)! I have wondered where someone with skill could take this idea. I can do simple rakes and arpeggios, but fail at flamenco-type-flourishs. I did send a set of three to a local hero, Bob Brozman, wh...

I would like to add to the bent/straight discussion, that I've 'invented' a two-way finger pick: they work while closing and opening your fingers. With their tips bent inward and soldered together, they never get caught between the strings. What's interesting though is that they have a different voi...

I too have one of the other 4 neck 'Stringmasters" that were converted on the 3rd neck. It's a '58 Blond with three pull pedals, which I purchased for $225 in 1970 in Delta Colorado. I know a mint Fender 4 neck is the thread consensus, but it's satisfying to have an old hot rod too. O.K., it's ...
