Don't be modest C.E. as your contributions to this publication are highlighed by Andre's special thanks and notation of your collection's web address. Well deserved and the culmination of years of collecting these treasures. I've had the priviledge of getting to know C.E. over the past few years and...

Actually Gibson produced 2 Royaltone models that were very different. Jim's is the first version manufactured in 1950-52 with a total of 607 shipped. I sold my first version Royaltone last year for $550 on eBay. The second version was released in 1956 however only 67 were shipped. It has a guitar sh...

Howard/Thanks for the FON! Not part of the sequence that I'm aware of which, along with the CC pup, makes me think it's a one off and built for a customer. Such a wonderful find as I've yet to see another and have my doubts I ever will  So when is the HowardR collection going to grace us with a...

Richard Shatz and myself have contributed photos of specific instruments from our collections to Andre for his upcoming book on Gibson lap steels. The level of detail he has planned, especially considering the # of variations within any given model, will be pretty darn amazing. It will be a limited ...

Better late than never! It sounds like you are the <proud> owner of an EH-275. Gibson only shipped 25 and there can be confusion with the EH-185N but you clearly have the correct FON for the run in 1940-42. What is referred to as the ES-300 pickup is a great early design that lead to the post war P9...

Tom....thanks for the compliment! Your steels are a shining example of the passion, skill and artistry that go into building an instrument. Gary.....it's a fun weekend winter project and you'll be surprised with the results. Here is the the string through version. It has more sustain (harmonics last...

It's not a CBG but an LBG (Lap Box Guitar)!
Okay no laughing ladies and gents  I've been building CBGs (Cigar Box Guitars) for the past few months but I started building what I call an LBG or Lap Box Guitar just a few weeks ago. This one is my latest creation - The Micubano LBG 6. Six string, 25.5" scale, red oak neck, maple fingerb...

I echo Paul's sentiment that SGF threads typically are not very collector friendly. This is one reason why I choose to lurk in the background and only post when questions concerning a particular model or value are presented to the community. Even though I'm also a player my primary instrument is not...
