John Clark is with Moe. I didn't get to talk to him though. What a great show, just wish it was longer. Moe's band did double duty playing for T.G. Sheppard and Moe.

I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that Jean and Gus, who owns Springer Mountain Farms Chicken, have been good friends for years.

Strings

It is time to order new strings and I have a question.

For the last fifteen years I've been using Buddy Emmons SITs. I've read a lot of people talking about Cobra Coil strings. So my question is how do they compare to each other and is there really any big difference between SIT and Cobra Coils?

Wish I could see Toby. I work at Colorado Belle and will be working when he's playing. The bosses won't let us off to see the concert, we will be too busy.

Slim Yamaguchi

Last night me and my wife went to a Mark Chesnutt concert. Slim came out before the show and visited with us for almost half an hour. He was an extremely nice and interesting guy. He told me that he just got a new Excel 12 string universal last week in Japan. He sure made it sound incredible. Beside...

I agree, a good traditional type country song. That's what the world was like when I was growing up. I remember the first remote control we had for our TV was my dad saying, "John, get up and change the channel." :) :) Then he would say, "Go outside and get up on the roof and move the...

The Wilburn Brothers on RFD-TV

I watch The Wilburn Brothers Show on RFD-TV as often as I can. They always have great TV shots of the steel and on every show feature the steel player on an instrumental. This morning it was Curly Chalker who was playing. It looked like he had the C6 neck in front and the E9 neck in back. Am I right...

Golden Valley is between Kingman and Bullhead City. Larry Strawn also lives here but our work schedules have been conflicting and I haven't been able to bug him for a while. :D :D I will give Chuck Back a call and see if he'll be willing to work on a Zumsteel. Thanks for the replies.

Need repair work in Az

I just moved to Arizona from Arkansas and I think the change in climate is causing some mechanical issues with my steel. Both knee levers that pull my E strings (LKL & LKR) are sticking. When I engage them they stay engaged and I have to reach under the guitar and pull them back. Also a piece of...

eric, One of the Clear Channel radio stations in my area switched to an all classic country format about 4 years ago. They are among the top rated in the area. Go figure. Maybe someone at Clear Channel is starting to pay attention to the people who listen to the radio. Real country music isn't dead,...

Jody, I know this isn't about your post but I noticed in your profile that is says Dodger Blue forever. Me too!! I remember as a kid growing up in southern California listening to Vin Sculley broadcasting the games and being at Dodger Stadium and seeing Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale pitch. Been a Do...

I have one inch extenders on my steel and still need the back just a tad higher to get under it comfortably, otherwise I would be constantly engaging my vertical knee lever. I am 6'3" and have long legs.

For me it was about 1963 when one day, while listening to the radio, I heard Bob Wills say, "And now, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Leon McAuliffe playing the Steel Guitar Rag. Take it away, Leon, take it away." That is when the desire was born. But due to finances when I was a kid and then ha...

Just my $.02 worth, but there really is some good traditional type country music being recorded today. You won't hear it on the radio, though.  You have to look on some of the indie's web sites or artist's web pages to find it, but it's there.

On place on the album has it titled as "Boot Heel Rag" and another as "Boot Heel Drag." I bet it is Drag instead of Rag. Can it be played E9?

Boot Heel Rag

I'm sitting here listening to "Hall Of Fame-Bob Wills & Tommy Duncan" CD. Great CD!! Of course the steel is very prominent. There is the steel instrumental "Boot Heel Rag" on the CD. The album notes say that it was written by Bob Wills and Herb Remington. Does anyone have tab...
