I did some work on this steel a few years ago for the family. It is very nice. and sounds great. I made a new case for it,set it up, cleaned it up and repaired one of the platforms. It did have the Isaacs tuning and a 6th tuning. I forget what the other neck was tuned to. Possibly an E9 variation. I...

That or just turn the pickup around. The wires should be coming out the bottom of the front of the pickup... toward the peg head, rather than the tail.

Clinesmith Steel Guitars Update

Hello Forum-ites, As I pass the 2-year anniversary of the Archie Creek fire that destroyed my shop and most of the property here in Idleyld Park, Oregon Sept 8th 2020, I wanted to fill everybody in on my progress to date. About a week after the fire, I began setting up a small space in a friend's wo...

Re: Pre-war

Hi Todd, By no means an authority re the specs on these pickups, but aren’t they typically nickel-plated from that era? -Martin I did eventually find a pickup for the project. It appears to be a later prewar and appears to be chrome. But I was mostly trying to differentiate between chrome/nickel ...

It’s a Wright custom neck on a home made body. Probably came off a double or triple neck pedal guitar. It looks like that .... But some Wrights have a home made look to them. I owned a similar Wright single neck with body and leg sockets like this. Same wood too, which appears to be a Lauan type ...

Thanks Paul and Lance, Lance, I did get your email. I will try and return it this evening if not in the A.M. I have not found a lathe to my liking yet. Some of the early South Bends and Bridgeports scare me a bit, as they were wartime machines and probably ran 24/7. Once again, Thanks every one for ...

Thank you everyone once again for your concerns, well wishes and for reaching out. The GoFund me Mike created is just amazing. It is hard to comprehend the reality of this outreaching support. I am thinking of ways to pay some of this forward when I get back on my feet. I have found a few mills to c...

I do not know what to say. For now, thank you . The only time I have choked up over this ordeal is when I typed this initial thread, and when I heard about the Go Fund me that Mike started. For more news of moving forward.... A wood working friend has offered me a 20 X 20 space in his shop to rent t...

Hi Ron, You can get a solid no rattle sound with this capo. But it will not fit a 10 string steel. It was made for 6 string Dobro , but should fit 7 and possibly some 8 string instruments. Though I need to get a measurement to back that up. I would think most pedal steel players would find little us...
