I'll be revealing much, much more about myself than I care to BUT....... Every time someone mentions "smartphone" and launches into a host of problems, issues etc etc I giggle just a little---my perfect solution has simply been AVOID THOSE DEVICES like you owe them money. ANYTHING that's e...
For some unknown reason my calls have all but stopped---get maybe one or two a week now. The only thing I've done differently is checking most caller ID's which I've rarely done in the past. Those I guess are robo calls just go to voice mail which might be one reason they've slowed down a bit. Sound...
Not a security issue per se but recently discovered that some online sellers of various things I use can and have captured my "real" email address simply by my visiting their sites. Most notably when I've placed something in a cart--mostly to check shipping costs---when I leave the site wi...
Well I also have a landline---dinosaur that I am. :) I've solved the problem of ANY unwanted call simply by NEVER EVER EVER answering ANY incoming calls to that line. Everyone of importance including customers have my cell phone number so for the most part that works well. However I have a Motorola ...
Have some gear I'm offering up for sale, hope not to scare anyone off but...... Will be sold as a lot, no picking and choosing bits and parts, need the space more than the money. :) Here's a few photo links showing mostly what's being offered: Blonde late 60's Super Reverb, not 100% original: https:...
Yeah, it's pretty cool. You just click 'n drag what you want saved as an image, and tell Windows where you want to save it. Cool indeed----it can do what I've been doing with the "print screen" function where I would save to a .jpg file. This tool cuts out a step or two. Thanks again for ...
I use it all the time, though, to keep records of online order receipts, etc - saves having to print hard copies; hard copies are so 20th century. ;-) True dat Dave! :) I've used the "print screen" button on the PC keyboard open that capture in whatever reader fits or use the "save a...
I found a software download called Bandicam designed for on-line gamers but it works for any images appearing on your screen. The native Windows snipping tool can capture images and anything else on the screen quickly and easily, and it's free, but he also wants to save the audio. It can't do that....
Very, very late to this thread, hope this is helpful none the less........ I found a software download called Bandicam designed for on-line gamers but it works for any images appearing on your screen. Trial versions are available but there is a residual watermark and you're limited to a certain leng...
Dave, thanks for your input----and your advice is exactly what I did and all is working well now. I'm with you on the scams so typically I avoid so much of what Google will find in similar searches. Digging a bit deeper directly from MicroSoft was the only way to go. You guys are always helpful and ...
Jack Stoner wrote:I saw your post on the windows 7 forum. The people there should get it resolved.
Thanks Jack---no doubt there's a world of talent and knowledge on the Windows 7 Help forums----I'm not that tech savvy so could easily get lost in their help.
Am receiving an error message "cannot open program, missing mfc140u.dll file". This was after downloading a paid-for program for video editing from ACD Systems. Doing a general Google search I'm led to a site where a tool MFC.dll Repair Tool can be found, a scan shows I supposedly have upw...
Well I happened across this miraculous service, to me anyway that's touted as being a great way to test a website's security. Have a look: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/index.html Running it past a few sites I use it seems most are up-to-date and a bit "safe", at least their security pas...
I do in fact have a sniper program---had I not accidentally noticed it's count down clock wasn't in sync with eBay's it would have gone unnoticed for who knows how long. The upside is my sniper is sync'd to eBay's main server so snipes aren't in danger of being made too late. OTOH the count down dis...
Mitch--WOW is all I can say! :) It never occurred to me the MB's battery could be an issue. That's easily fixed naturally, I'll change it and see how that works I do have internet time enabled, currently sync's with time.windows.com but not due to re-sync until Dec 13th. Should I use another of the ...
So having a minor issue with my system clock, thinking all y'all can help out a bit................ Running W7 Pro 64 bit but have noticed my system clock as displayed in the system tray seems to be about a minute or so behind times shown on TV programs with live time stamps and radio announced time...
Hoping I describe this correctly......... Running an HP Envoy 700-214 pre-loaded with Win 8, have upgraded it via CD-ROM to 8.1 mainly to add Windows Media Center. Despite this occasionally a "upgrade now" banner takes over the display. I'm sure there's some sort of KB file I can delete or...
Seems like you don't need a landline. Why not save some money and have it disconnected? Every monthly bill that is pennies more than the last month has me asking this same question. I absolutely HATE talking on a cell phone, the only reason I have one is for my customer's convenience. When home and...
