I have used one for several years. I'm not sure of the exact #, but it houses my West Coast D-8. I had Bob Littleton line the inside, and I think you could drop it out of a second story window with no damage. It is, however, very heavy. When loaded with the steel and 4 legs it weighs more than 40 pou...

Clinesmith S-8 Non-Pedal

This beautiful Clinesmith is virtually brand new. It was a special order, with a slightly wider body and was built using a visually stunning piece of birdseye maple. I waited about 4 months to take delivery. There are no scratches or dings, and it has been in my non-smoking music room since I bought...

Dick Sanft was the featured artist at the HSGA convention in Joliet in 2006. His repertoire included not only Hawaiian selections, but several very "jazzy" tunes---an excellent musician. Bye the way, this years HSGA "Joliet Hawaiian Music Festival" will be held in Joliet,Il on Oc...

Well Mike, I thought I was expressing the same feelings as Brudda Michael when he said "if I want to hear a steel guitar sound like Judas Priest with amps at 11---well hell--why would anyone want to hear that?" So those are my sentiments exactly. Maybe there are some folks who would refer ...

Thanks for the heads-up Ron. Nice going brudda Michael! I'm really anxious to see and hear some of the things that Michael will be posting. Michael's philosophy is very close to my line of thinking, especially his apparent disdain for those that would try to use the STEEL GUITAR for inclusion into j...

Alkire E-Harp

Doug, that's a picture of one of Alkire's really top of the line models. I saw quite a few in his studio in Easton. Frank Brown, one of Alkire's protege/teachers in the Philly area used to play one and it had all of the features a good steel should have. I bought the cheaper model just to learn Alki...

Alkire E-Harp

This looks exactly like the model I bought from Alkire back in the 70's. Same color, same looks, same case, etc. It was what Alkire called his "student" model, and was made with very inexpensive materials. The wood was very soft, so the sustain was less than perfect. There was no comparison...

Hi Andy,
If he really wants good D'Addario's, tell him to go to 'Addario's website.
He can buy the individual string guages including the "chrome flat-wounds".They are not cheap, but I feel they are the best money can buy.
Good seeing you in Joliet,
Terry

Jerry,
That was truly a beautiful rendition. As Bill said, you need to make a CD . I enjoyed your version of "Wear a Lei" that you did earlier.
Bye the way, the guitar playing was also as good as I've ever heard.

You would sound great no matter what your pickup choice was!
Keep 'em coming.

Sheet Music

Well James, I'm sorry to differ with you, but I agree 100% with Erv. The steel guitar is a musical instrument, and as such makes reading sheet music the "legitimate" alternative to the other methods used by many steel players. I don't mean to infer that you should ever use it on the bandst...

Very Nice

I agree---- that was a very nice rendition. A difficult tune to play on any instrument, especially on the steel. Good chordal work for only 6 strings.
Nice job!

SWR Working Man's 10 Bass Amp

This is a great little bass amp for small to medium venue performance I used it while playing in a jazz trio and played both the upright and electric bass thru it. It outputs a full 80W RMS and will output 100W with an external speaker. It is not the less expensive LA series which is also offered by...
