It's not a range expander its the model just prior t the range expander. Outwardly it looks the same as a range expander but the body is screwed / bolted together rathr than welded and the cross shafts are not so easy to replace. The switch wiring will be the same though. I think I have figured it o...

Willis - there is nothing inherently wrong with the 705's I just find them too hot and the tone very brittle sounding as I pick the strings quite hard. I have tried altering the height of the pick ups and trying to eq out the problem on the amp but not very sucessfully. I am going to try the george ...

switch wiring for MCI D10

Hi all,

I am about to change the pick-ups on my MCI D10 from 705's to Geaorge l e66 pu's. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the switches on the MCI?, or any experience of installing e-66's on an MCI?

Many thanks

Interesting thread. My call is MM0AHC. Not as active as I'd like due to work, young children (although one is interested - sort of), and music! But still get on HF / VHF when I can.

Henry, Are you sure your laptop does not have "line in"? Many laptops use one jack for both a mono "mic" input and a stereo "line in". You then configure the jack in the control panel on the operating system. That said, any recording you do will only be as good as the s...

Thanks Mike for pointing out my error. I actually read the post properly and have been lowering the pickup slightly ant the changer end, I'm just lousy at putting it into words and got it the wrong way round. I have had some sucess but from your post I will try increasing the distance between PU and...

Thanks for the reply Jim. I will do as you say and experiment a little. But knowing that having the changer side of the pickup slightly higher than the keyhead side to reduce the highs will help a lot. Maybe I'll not need to change my pickups after all.

kind regards

Lawrence 705 pickup adjustment

I have Bill Lawrence 705 pickups on my D10 MCI and I am looking to reset the pickups but I need some advice. I understand the pickup will be hotter if it is near to the strings and vice versa but what is the effect of having one edge (ie the side nearest the changer or the keyhead) of the pickup hig...

Hi, I think your problem might be more to do with the shape of your hands when picking rather than the size of your hands. Correct right hand shape is does not necessarily feel right at first and it does take some time to get used to it. I suggest you invest in the Jeff Newman video (or probably als...

Terry, The thing with virus protection is that its only as good as the las time it was updated. New viruses are being released daily and virus protection software is playing "catch up" to a certain extent all the time. I use AVG anti virus software which is free and I update the software (...

Hi Roy, Shutting off anti-virus software is the real point here because it may stop some important file installation / changes. Its a good idea to virus check the disk / file that the program is on with an up to date virus scanner first though. Apart from that all I do is to shut down running progrm...

Roy, if you reinstall the sound balster software from the original installation disc you should be fine. The install wizard will first of all check for already installed components and should only install what you have missing. BUT just to be sure I would back up the registry first. This gives you t...
